Rare and extremely well sculptured antique 14k gold Griffin brooch. The Griffin is holding a flower set with 7 old rose cut diamonds. The Griffin is battling with a snake that also has the diamond flower in its mouth. The snake has its body entwined with all his muscle and might to pull the diamond flower form the Griffin's mouth. There were originally 9 old rose cut diamonds, but 2 of the small ones are lacking. The Griffin and snake are beautifully carved and appear very lifelike. Weight 10.5 grams. The diamonds are very brilliant, fiery and high quality. The diamond in the cat's mouth measure .20 carat. The diamonds in the cat's eyes measure .10 points or more.
