Circa 1740-1760 Chinese Export Sauce/Gravy Boat decorated with the arms of Skinner under the spout. It measures 8" from end of handle to the end of the spout. This fabulous piece is also decorated on the exterior with famille rose floral garland, interior decorative band. Inside the shield of the Armorial Skinner's Crest their is a firing mark coming into the inside near the shield. No other damage and appears to have no restoration. This Skinners coat of arms is identified in David Sanctuary Howard's book on Chinese Export Porcelain, Volume 1. « Less

Next to that their is a signature marred in black that appears to be a ownership names, probably a husband and wife, which could also be the letters in the monogram in the pattern opposite the side of the handle. Very finely painted with central floral motiffs and a complex border of puce cross hatching alternating with floral vignettes. Excellent Condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. There is a tiny glaze frit on the edge of the rim and of course the gilding is worn on the edges as expected, after 200 years. We originally had a pair of these but one has been sold. « Less
