Antique signed Ferdinand Preiss miniature carved figurines of baby children. Made very early in the 20th century - probably between 1907-1920''s, in Germany. Measurements:approx 23mm (a little over 3/4inches) high. Length of the crawling baby is approx 1 1/4 inches (31mm) total length. Two toddlers - tiny children, marvellously captured in these hand done carvings. A little child sits and holds out one hand,chubby legs stretched out, a small smile on the tiny mouth. The other child is crawling along, dressed only in a bib, the rest of his body literally ''butt naked''. Details are amazing: from the tiny fingers and toes to the exact facial features and hair. ''photos are highly enlarged - see the details of this great quality work. Babies are always cute and these two are exceptionally so, especially the little boy with his naked behind. Both pieces are signed F. Preiss underneath. Condition is very good. Massive and unique original DEMETRE H CHIPARUS verdigris bronze seated nude sculpture. Originally foundried in Paris circa 1925-1930's by Romanian sculptor, DEMETRE H. CHIPARUS. This bronze personifies the geometric precision and balance which is unique to the ART DECO movement, strongly influenced by Chiparus. The original sculpture is 19" (48 1/2 cm) in length on the base measurement. Height is 17 1/2" (44 1/2cm)from top of her head to base. The nude figure is poised, sophisticated, and timeless. This is a rare offering of an ART DECO masterpiece, Not an excuse for a rediculously overpriced knockoff. There are no repairs, or damage. Interior shows remains of castings, etc. A small (1/4 inch) hairline foundry crack is on the back of the neck of the sculpture. Otherwise, mint condition. Circa 1930. Rare and wonderful Art Deco polar bear lamp. I originally purchased this exceptional alabaster lamp for my personal collection but never quite found the right spot for display in my home. The lamp consists of a large jagged ice berg with two polar bears, one on each level. The polar bear on top is standing and looking down, the lower level bear is lying down with it's front paws crossed and it's head up. The lamp is lit from a socket inside the base (iceberg) which softly glows when lit. The bears are both removable with metal pins in them that fit in holes on the base. Each bear has black eyes. As with the vast majority of antique and vintage alabaster, the lamp has suffered some chips over the years, each bear bearing some scars which can be seen in the photos. I also think the bottom end of the iceberg on the side where the wire enters was originally longer. It is in completely "as found" condition, with no restorations or repairs, original socket and wire. That being said, it still displays very well and would work as a fine sculpture as well as a light. 11 " tall x 13 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" deep. Price 1200.00   « Less
