Beautiful antique bronze sculpture depicting a nude nymph with grapes lying down asleep taking a nap after drinking too much wine. She is depicted on her side with a smiling face nude embracing grapes and partially covered with grapes and grape vines. Towards the back of the sculpture are 2 grape baskets that open to become inkwells. This is a wonderful desk top sculpture for the advanced bronze enthusiast or inkwell collector. The sculpture is signed P. Philippe 1870-1930. Philippe created some of the finest Art Nouveau and Art Deco bronze sculptures. His works are rare and very sought after. Exquisite antique Vienna bronze, very large in size, depicting a man blowing 2 horns wearing a lion skin robe and looking up at a beautiful nude female term with grapes in her hair. On the sides of the term are clusters of grapes. The bronze is inscribed Joh. Benk. It also bears this foundry seal: WEINER GESEUSCHAFT VON FREUNDEN DER KLEINPLASTIK #7. The sculpture has a beautiful chocolate to medium brown patina. It is artist inscribed at the base of the term and the foundry seal is marked on the side near the term. Term figures are usually seen as a man with the face of a satyr. This term is a beautiful female nude torso wearing grapes in her hair. She is extremely well sculptured and looks alive as does the gentleman blowing the horns. Height: 18 inches. The base measures 2 inches. The sculpture measures 16 inches. The original dark green marble base is 6-1/8 inches deep by 6-1/2 inches wide. Weight 16 lbs. This is a beautiful bronze in superb condition, lacking in almost all Vienna bronze collections. Beautiful antique Vienna bronze depicting a nude lady, rolling a hoop, standing on a rock work base. The sculpture is signed Ruff, a well listed Vienna bronze artist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Andor Ruff born in Taksony, Hungary January 2nd 1885, studied in Budapest and Brussels and worked as a decorative sculptor in Baden. Later he joined the Vienna Bronze School of Artists and sculptured many beautiful Vienna bronze sculptures. This one being no exception to this artist's high quality of work. The bronze measures 6-1/2 inches high, widest width from hoop to hand measures 4-1/4 inches. The rouge marble base measures 1/2 inch high, 2-1/2 inches deep, and 2-1/4 inches wide. Weight 1 lb. This is a lovely bronze with a very nice chocolate brown patina in excellent condition with the exception of some minor rubbing to the patina on the lady's behind.
