Royal Worcester plate with handpainted, artist signed seascape / naval theme. Made in England, 1917. Scalloped flower shaped plate with moulded folds. Measures 8 1/2 inches accross. Gold rim. The surface of the plate is very delicately painted with a seascape - seagulls hover above a buoy bobbing in the water, sailboats / yaghts in full sail and a small rowboat / tug on the horizon. On the right, we see the beginnings of cliffs. Clouds scudding accross a light sky. Raymond Rushton, born 1886, was considered one of the best artists at the WOrcester factory in the first half of the 20th century (he retired 1953). He won National art prizes and was very highly acclaimed. The plate is marked on the back with the Royal Worcester mark in puce (purple). It is in good condition with no damage/restoration. Pair of Coalport moulded and handpainted dessert plates circa 1825, England. Each plate measures approx 9 1/4inch. Scalloped rims with beige borders moulded with raised gold and white floral and scrolling patterns interspersed with handpainted spriggs of flowers. The centers of each plate are handpainted with flowers and fruit - one has a peach and one a pear, both have roses, anemones, chrysanthemums etc , all masterfully depicted. One has an impressed mark (6 or 9) underneath. Condition is good, especially considering the age. There is crazing, more visible under the peach plate with superficial cracks in the glaze (see last ''photo). We only found these on the back of the peach plate. Gilding in good shape except on some moulded pleats, mainly of pear plate. *** We believe these plates were sold by Sothebys to a Palm Beach Collector in their New York, October 21 2000 sale. 19th century, French, Sevres or Limoges handpainted plate with a still life of fish, flowers and fruit. 8 7/8inches in diam. Gently scalloped border with gilt rim. Band of chocolate brown along the border with sprays of flowers - each masterfully painted. Pink, blue, yellow and green, very fine detail. The center of the plate has a fabulous still life featuring all the ingredients for a gourmet elegant meal: two fish, a leafy cabbage/lettuce, lemons, parsely, chestnuts and strawberries in the background. Everything needed to make a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful painting. Simply doesn''t get better than this. No known marked. A painted 5 underglaze and impressed mark. 6 handpainted enameled porcelain plates made 19th century England by Coalport for Tiffany New York.Each plate measures 8 3/4inches in diameter. The white bowls are richly handpainted with boquets of flowers - each plate is different and between them, we see the floral spectrum of a beautiful English garden. Coalport was considered to have the finest porcelain painters in the 19th century and this is a good example of their beautiful work.Sides of plates: Concentric enameled bands separated by gold borders. Red and cobalt patterning on the yellow central band. Green flowers with red centers alternating on the creamy ground with delicate gold patterns inbetween.The backs of each plate are marked with the Coalport Crown Coalport A.D 1750 and England in green and the purple Tiffany & Co. New York below that. Each plate also has a handpainted gold number 8867/A and impressed numbers. (see ''photos).Condition is MINT. We did not find a single fault on any of the plates. 1 Coalport cabinet plate with handpainted bird painting, rich gilding and jewels. Made England 1880-1920.Measures 8 3/4inches in diameter.Wavy-edged gilded rim with moulded and gilded bows. Minutely detailed background pattern in green and gold. A golden ring with blue and white flowers and foliage alternating with raised gilded stylised plants and further embellished with tiny gold jewels. The inner golden circle has a double pattern of raised triangles. The central round reserve is painted with a beautiful double tailed, long beaked bird. Crimson chest. The light falls on the underside of his face and bottom of his tail, giving them a golden sunny look, which is echoed in part of the background. The plate is signed with the Coalport mark for 1881-1920 and has impress number 2JI. Further red handwritten numbers near the rim on the back.Condition is genrally very good.Painting and gilding are clear, unfaded and rich. Very close observation shows a fine glaze crack (magnified in the photos), but this does not compromise either the plate nor the painting.
