Circa 1800 European probably German Figure measuring 8 1/4" in height sitting on a tree stump playing a musical instrument that resembles a guitar but is either a banjo, mandolin or a string instrument of this kind. There is a mark under the base which is a X (CROSS)There is a faint mark at the ends of the X which would make you think of a crossed swords mark as in Meissen but I do not think so. There is another mark in blue glaze at the top of the X but we cannot decipher it either.The meissen mark as we all know is a crossed sword, but this could be Volkstedt. Good Condition with only a few firing marks under the base. The basket of flowers has no chips or losses which is usually common. That mark in blue glaze at the top of the X could also be a t, indicating an early mark of Carl Thieme of Dresden and Saxony Porcelain Factory.   « Less

The Hudson River Port-Folio contains twenty aquatints views of the Hudson River Valley engraved by John Hill after paintings by William G. Wall. Published by Henry I. Megarey, New York. The Hudson River runs 315 miles from the Adirondack Mountains to New York City. The views start near Lake Luzerne and end with a view of New York City from Governor's Island. The original proposal was for twenty-four prints; however, only twenty were ever published between 1821 to 1825. This particular one is #10 which is the scene of Fort Edward. Fort Edward is situated on the east bank of the Hudson, two miles south of Sandy Hill, and about eleven miles north of Fort Miller Bridge. After much investigation--This and the other Hudson River Valley Print #20 Governor's Island that we have on our web site are not Originals BUT restrikes from about 40 years ago. Originals are worth about $6,000-$8,000.   « Less

19TH Century Oil On Canvas of two children fishing on the banks of a river that is probably set in the South. The dimensions of this painting is 31" X 17" And the gilded frame measures 35 1/2" X 22". Purchased out of a old house in Georgia, we believe that the rural location of this setting would be in one of the southern states of the United States. We had this painting given a very light cleaning. Excellent Condition with No Restoration. There is no signature.   « Less

Mid 19TH Century Oil On Canvas Unsigned painting of a Port with boats and dock and people in what appears to be a European fishing village. Laying on the dock are several of the fish referred to as skates which were found predominately in Florence. The painting canvas measures 30" X 20" and is mounted in a very nice and appropriate frame. Minor restoration was done before I purchased this painting. Circa 1770 Chinese Export Very Large Mandarin Palette Mug/Tankard measuring 5 1/2" in height and 4 7/8" in diameter at the top opening. It has a nice dragon shaped handle which is blue. The tankard is decorated in the rose mandarin colourway with a fine painted center panel with five people with castle, mountains and water in the background. They are apparently standing on a veranda. Nice painted blue colors serving as a border for this scene. The rest of the mug has a beautiful peach diapering and flanked by two square panels and two other panels in the shape and form of what appears to be a armour. The Mug is in Perfect Condition and of the Finest Quality Mug that we have had. No Damage at all and No Restoration. Over the years I have had 100's of these chinese mugs and this one rates in the top five of the best ones that we have owned.   « Less
