RARE antique French silver toilet set made by Aucoc in Paris, This antique French toilet set is with out a doubt the best one we have ever seen. Made form sterling silver, measures 27 inches wide by 19 and one half inches deep by 10 inches high.There are four blown glass decanters covered boxes candlesticks Sterling dishes,mirrors,there are seventeen pieces of sterling silver on top with another compartmented section with combs,brushes, covered boxes, and many other accessories all with solid 18k yellow gold Crown monograms. The box is solid oak retaining its original recessed hardware and key. Aucoc was established in the beginning of the 19th century and was the favorite jewelry and silver supplier to the house of King Louis Philippe,the family of Orleans and also Napoleon lll also Emperous Eugenie. The family of Aucoc sold the buisness in 1932. Aucoc was located at 6 rue de La Paix the premier location in Paris.They were the Tiffany's of France. This set is in excellent original condition. From a Scottish collection, this small, egg shaped spice container is the first we have encountered. Crafted in wood with a threaded closure, it apparently contained cinnamon. The exterior has a textured finish and the interior remains natural. While the piece comes from a Scottish collection, we are unable to give a specific attribution. It is well known that quality travelers in the 17th an 18th C carried their own spices but beyond the documentation surrounding fine silver boxes little scholarship can be found.
