Italian majolica figural mask, or wall sculpture with barbotine (raised relief) details. Truly stunning masterpiece,a version of Harvest, of Auttuno in the masculine form. This is exceptional majolica, or faience sculpture,dating probably to 1950. The figural barbotine hung in an Orange County restaurant for years, years along with his mate,the feminine Primavera, or Spring, shown ladden with Grapes Trocadero #563107 (see her photo here and separate listing.) Dimensions: Approximately 12.25" in all directions. Condition: Excellent. Very good overall condition. Small restoration on female sculpural mask. Very unusual Japanese fine and early pottery vase. Massive heavy in the manner of a tree with cherry blossoms. I can not estimate age, but this is probably early 18th century. There is damage to some of the petals as shown, but the quality and workmanship make the damage almost unnoticible. A most unusual and rare vase. Signed as shown on base; a stunning example of Italian Florentine faienza. Snake handles, grotesques, lots of hand painted detail here. Retains original cork seal. SO VERY FRENCH, this is an awesome 14" faience pottery figurine of a "French Postcard Madamoiselle" circa 1860's, baskets. A winsome and charming Country French accent is quite sassy and bold, truly a one of a kind in workmanship and size. Much detail as shown, from her decolette to her tiny waist and full skirts. Absolutely the best Frog! He is a glazed with a thick rich deep turquoise, on coarse hard pottery. Froggy has the cutest potbelly, huge eyes, and other wonderful froggy attributes. He has been the king of my garden for quite awhile.Selling him because I am making an international move, and will have no yard. The frog was purchased from a very chic,very over priced nursery in Santa Barbara, California seven years ago. I can not tell you how old the frog is, but I know they had him for 10 years, probably because of his outrageous price. The owner told me the frog was shipped with a collection of fine garden porcelain, including particularly wonderful shaped large pots, (Of Course I bought some of these also,so inquire) they are incredibly beautiful works of art with turquoise and azure drip glazes. also... NOTE: The pottery is a hard rough creamy beige stonewear, probably Shekwan (from China)and is not the Vietnamese turquoise/celadon found at big garden centers.
