Very Nice 6 Light Slip Shade Top-of-the-Line Art Deco Chandelier by Mid-West Mnf The decorative elements of this six light chandelier are really quite nice. There's a crackle surface finish in old gold, surrounded by elements of nickel plating, complete with a tapered Deco center motif. Mid-West really did know how to design iconic fixtures, and this one has a taste of step-deco combined with the restrained features of Streamline design. Circa 1934-37, it does appear in their literature as the Empire design. And this model was absolutely top-of-the-line for this series...you could not buy a more expensive model. The family consisted of this 6 shade chandelier (with a couple different stem configurations); a three light chandelier; a two light pendant; and then wall sconces. Solid Bronze Art Deco Slip Shade Chandelier by Mid West Mnf So nice to be able to offer another really fine light to you. Here we have one of the scarcer lights of the Deco era from Mid West Mfg Circa 1935. Not only is it because of the series it belongs to, but scarcer again since it is an uncommon style, being a close ceiling chandelier with the large ceiling plate which was seldom made. This is a FIVE light (shade) Soleure close ceiling chandelier. Mid West made the best quality Art Deco lighting. This close ceiling chandelier is solid bronze with a great original finish. The castings are so beautiful, with lots of pierced parts which are...were...so hard to do, as any casting man will tell you. The finish does have some minor variations, but it also has a nice mellow appearance that most antiquers would not touch...a lovely, aged bronze finish. It is simply beautiful. This light has been totally rewired in our UL registered shop with five new sockets. Measurements: * Height: The drop of this light is only a mere 14 ½". * Diameter: 17 ¾" The five shades are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and they all match each other very well. This fixture is lit by a single standard socket within that will accept a 100 watt light bulb. We did not power it up for pictures, as too strong of a bulb blows out the focus of our camera lens. Cast Metal is nicely finished in a pewter finish, which works nicely with the light amber/clear border shades. A rather nice chandelier with curvilinear aspects. Wonderful condition. The shades are in good condition. Co-existing at the same time as slip shade lighting, this was a fashion that had a more reliable and safer mounting shade than slip shades. There was, and sometimes is, a preference for this type of shade for a more traditional look. Measurements: * Height: 24" * Spread: 21 ½" This fixture can be lengthened by adding more stem length. Note that the wire was threaded through the arms to the center cluster body where they are joined, and then one central lead wire goes up to the canopy for mounting. Moe Bridges Art Deco 3 Slip Shade Pendant Light A well-known name in Art Deco Americana lighting is Moe Bridges. There are existing catalogs from the 1930s that show his lines, as well as a few reference books. This pendant comes from the series that Moe Bridges called the "Etruscan Series". This three-shade pendant was presented in their 1935 catalog. The frame is cast iron, and still retains much of its original gold polychrome finish. Like most antiques, this chandelier is showing its age a bit. Some of the finish is worn in places and muted, like an old Persian carpet. We tend to be purists, and appreciate the aged beauty of the original finish, so we have just gently cleaned this fixture up a bit. The shades are a deep amber color, and present a nicely carved detail design thereon. Measurements: * Height: 21" * Spread: 14 ½" This fixture can be made longer by adding more chain. Very Collectable Art Deco Slip Shade 5 Light Chandelier by Globe Globe Lighting Fixture Mfg Co. was located in Brooklyn, NY on 7th Avenue and 12th Street. They were not as big as companies like Lincoln or Markel, but they did make some very interesting, and uniquely different, Art Deco lights...which are now harder to find. This 5 slip shade chandelier is just such a hard-to-find, and collectable light. It was stock numbered 4216 in their catalog of 1934-35. The cast iron frame has bold and striking lines. It is finished in a pewter look with highlights. Measurements: * Height: 16" overall, measured from the top of the canopy to the bottom of the finial. * Diameter: 17 ½" (maximum) The length can be increased, if so desired...for a small additional charge. Please contact us for pricing. The shades are a nice light amber, and will be shown very much nicer once 100 watt bulbs are installed.
