Circa 1810 Pastel Pair of Husband and Wife Portrait. Fresh out of a Estate in Richmond,Va. Original with no restoration. The portraits themselves are in Very Good Condition. The frames are not in great condition, which is easily changed with securing a pair of period frames. These pastels appear to have been done on slate. The medium of pastel can be traced as far back as the 16TH Century. Pastel paintings are very durable, permanent and, as many of the famous master works show, the color brilliancy will last indefinetely with proper care. Artists have used the pastel medium for hundreds of years and many of these artworks still exist fresh and colorful as the day they were applied. Pastels do not yellow and the color does not oxodize,change or fade with age. The dimension of these wonderful portrait pastels are 15 1/2" X 19 1/2". They are mounted on old wooden inserts and than placed into the old damaged gilded frames.   « Less

Nanking was made for the English Market. Some people confuse the blue and white especially nanking and canton. The easiest way to distinguish the two are as follows: Nanking has a person on the bridge and Canton has no one on the bridge. This jug is very well painted scenes with a bird,pagodas and a boat in the water bearing a flag and a oriental figure. 10" in height and 6" in diameter. No chips, cracks or any other imperfections or Restoration.   « Less

Circa 1890-1920 Eight Carved Chinese Ivory Buddhist lohans. These might even be referred to as THE EIGHT IMMORTALS. All eight are holding different musical instruments. Guaranteed to be antique and not a reproduction. I am very comfortable dating them between 1890-1920, but leaning more to 1920 BUT No Later. The Color is Good--Natural Color. Not stained or bleached. Ivory is not something we are a Expert on as we are in Chinese Export Porcelain. So I sent these ivory figures to a ivory collector who has been collecting for over 35 years. These pieces measure 3 1/4"-3 1/2" in height. Our collector friend evaluates these ivory figures as a "B" stating that the quality of the faces are better than the figures.   « Less

19TH Century Oil on Canvas, without frame of a child dressed in a European attire holding a sheep's staff with mountains in the background. The boy's eyes will just jump out at you. This kid looks REAL!!! Paint missing in a few spots and overall painting could use a cleaning. Add to that a nice frame, and you have a nice gallery painting that would stop visitors in their tracks as they will think they are looking at a real person. 19TH Century oil on canvas of Landscape Scene with sail boats in a beautifully themed painting. The total dimension including the beautiful frame is 11 1/2" X 13 3/4". The canvas/painting itself measures 9" X 7". It is signed A.E. in lower right corner. It has a nicely painted castle set off of a veranda with trees and bushes and what appears to be a walkway with steps and a Mounted Deer and a Mounted Lion on each side of the top of the short steps. Walking onto a veranda with a castle on the right and what appears to be a lake with a beautiful moon between clouds set in the evening time with mountains or hills in the background of the water which has several sailboats going by. There is a lot going on and I have no idea who A.E. is but he has put it all in this small painting. Priced reasonably.   « Less
