Signed and numbered iridescent art glass vase, signed Loetz, late 19th to early 20th century, Bohemia. Measures just under 10 1/2 inches high. Roughly diamond shaped with unequal, clearly handformed sides, tapering towards the top. Very rare technique of inlaid / marquetry glass, most famously made late 19th century by Emil Galle and considered the apex of his artistry. The glass is iridescent amethyst with pink and white inlaid flowers and stems, bending and twisting in every direction and even leaving the ground of the vase at one point and forming an arch (see ''photos). The ground glass has a wonderful iridescence and changes in colour depending on the light, much like petrol in water. While the outside has a fairly rough orange-peel texture, the inside is silky smoothe. Underneath, the vase has engraved signature LOETZ and number 14392.Very good condition with no chips/cracks/damage/restoration. The marquetry technique in art glass is extremely rare. The last example I saw was by Galle and priced at $100 000.00 We have been informed by very reliable sources that despite the Loetz signature, this glass was actually made by the Glass factory Elisabeth at Kostany in the town of Teplitz, also known as Elisabethhutte or Kostany, depending on the language spoken. They made glass for many factories in the then Habsburg Empire (including Bohemia), so the Loetz signature is not too way out of line. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3181 Condition: good Year: 1895 Title: LOETZ ELISABETHHUTTE / KOSTANY MARQUETRY SIGNED & NUMBERED GLASS VASE « Less

Art Deco Murano /Venetian glass double figurine of a prancing nude woman and reindeer. Made in Italy. Believed to date to the Art Deco period (2nd quarter of 20th century). Measures almost 9 inches max height; 9 1/2 inches front to back. Stands on a rectangular wooden base. Glass is marbled off-white, clear in the extremities such as fingers and toes, tips of horns and hooves. Two seperate figures prance gleefully - the woman stands on the ball of one foot, the other raised as she dances and runs, her arms thrown up in joy. Her hair flies up as she moves. Alongside her the reindeer echoes her movement - front legs thrown forward casually, back legs and horns arching backwards. The figure is full of movement and joy. Wonderful form and brilliant restraint in the use of only one colour. Clear technical mastery. No signature to be seen. Very good condition - no damage/restoration.
