circa: 1960 width: 36 height: 77 length: 16 This beautiful yew bookcase was crafted in England around 1960 as a reproduction of a Georgian period antique. The yew shows a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that have grown more lovely over the years with the development of a lovely patina. The dental moulding, astragal glass, brass hardware and shaped bracket feet also look quite striking. Both sets of doors lock, and the two sections separate for convenient movement and shipping. Although this bookcase has sustained some superficial wear, it remains as sturdy as ever, so overall condition is very good. « Less

circa: 1940 width: 36 height: 80 length: 17 This beautiful antique bureau bookcase was crafted in England around 1940. Today, the oak remains as striking as ever, with a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to make an impression in any setting. The leaded glass doors also look wonderful, as do the stained glass insets in the center of each of them. The shelves are fully adjustable, while the desk contains a writing surface of rich red leather. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, indicating fine quality, and each foot is finely carved in a barley twist pattern. The bookcase secures to the base with two screws, and the two sections will ship disassembled. This bureau bookcase has sustained some superficial wear consistent with age, including scuffs and stains, but remains sturdy. Additionally, both sides have developed age splits, which are natural separations in the wood. Overall condition is therefore very good. « Less

circa: 1910 width: 37 height: 81 length: 19 This lovely antique bureau bookcase was crafted in Edwardian England around 1910. The wood is a rich mahogany, with a lovely patina and a pleasing grain that are sure to look great in any setting. Solid brass pulls contrast beautifully with the wood, while the arched glass bookcase doors also look rather elegant. Detailed carving around the fall and the top moulding accents the overall appeal of this bureau, as do the quaint pad feet, which are as sturdy as they are attractive. With a locking bookcase containing three shelves, a desk with several compartments, and three large drawers, this bureau bookcase contains plenty of storage space. Each drawer of features hand-cut dovetails, which were usually machine-cut during the Edwardian period, so this is a particularly well-crafted piece. However, it has sustained some wear, most notably in superficial scratches and such on the sides and front (see pictures); one of the shelf supports has also been recently replaced. Otherwise, this piece is quite sturdy and remains in very good overall condition. « Less

circa: 1910 width: 42 height: 90 length: 19 This gorgeous mahogany bookcase was hand-crafted in Edwardian England around 1910. Over the years, the mahogany has developed a lovely patina, so that now, it displays a remarkably rich complexion and a distinct grain. Complementing the mahogany is a lovely set of solid brass hardware as well as the lower carved door panels. The pulls have recently been replaced but all other hardware is original; also, the top lock functions, while the lower does not. The upper shelves are adjustable by means of an alligator bracket system, each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, and the bookcase rests on shaped bracket feet. This bookcase has also sustained some surface wear consistent with age, including wear marks and a separation between the boards that is developing in the top, which is often referred to as an age split, and which is a completely natural, cosmetic phenomenon that occurs in all solid wood furniture, and which does not affect structural integrity. Otherwise, this bookcase remains quite strong, and all in all is a very beautiful piece, so condition remains very good overall. « Less

circa: 1820 width: 46 height: 99 length: 22 This Georgian mahogany secretaire bookcase was hand-crafted in England. The bottom was crafted in 1820 and restored. The top is newly made. The pediment is 7'' high and moulded. The bookcase has astragal glass fronts and alligator brackets. The bookcase has a lock and key with bone escutcheons. Each of the two shelves are movable. The bottom appears to have five drawers. However the top two drawers are in fact a fall front. The fall opens to reveal a cabinet with lock and key, seven drawers and eight pigeon holes. The writing surface is made of fine, green leather, bordered with hand-worked gold tooling. This area sits atop two graduated drawers. The bottom drawer is a full 14.5'' deep with the drawer above it measuring 6.5'' deep. All of the hardware is solid-brass and the drawer pulls are made in the classic Georgian style. The drawers have hand-crafted dovetailed joints and all of the escutcheons are made of bone. This secretaire sits atop sturdy shaped bracket feet. There are distress marks on the top and side (see pictures) but otherwise this Georgian mahogany secretaire bookcase is in very good condition and would make a fine investment for any home furniture collection! « Less

circa: 1920 width: 49 height: 73 length: 18 This beautiful antique walnut bookcase armoire was hand-crafted in England around 1920. Since then, the wood has developed a lovely patina, which enriches the distinct walnut grain and deep, rich complexion. Paneled doors, carved trimming and turned feet form an elegant appeal that contributes to the antique charm of this walnut bookcase armoire. Inside are four shelves and three drawers, each of which feature hand-cut dovetailed joints. While quite attractive and fully functional, this bookcase armoire has sustained some wear and wobbles as a result. Also, there are some repairs on the face of the piece, the locks do not function, and one of the back feet is metal (pictured below). Nevertheless, this gorgeous antique walnut bookcase armoire will continue to look beautiful and function for years to come! « Less
