Wonderful set of FOUR matching 1920's Art Deco Sconces.
The backplates are cast metal with a lovely pewter patina. The center section has a variation of the egg & dart pattern, but more stylized. Note too, that the first and second levels of the fitter (for the shades) echoes the lines of the backplates. So does the finial as well. A pretty well thought-out design.
The shades are great and heavy glass, with a thick glass ruffled pattern motif. Minor roughness in a very few places...but not really noticeable. The shades are taller than normal, having a height coming out of the fitter of 6 3â„8". This height, we assume, was to place the shades in the proper scale with the taller backplates.
Measurements:
•Height: 20"
•Width: 6" (at the backplate)
•Projection: 6" from the wall into the room.
Completely re wired to UL standards in our UL shop with new medium base sockets; the twisty rayon covered wire is a copy of the 1920s wiring. No rotary switches, but if desired...they could be added for a slight extra cost.
$1,375.00 for the complete set of FOUR sconces with shades...complete with mounting hardware.
$50.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

Pair of Brass/Bronze Floral Motif Art Deco Sconces with Serpentine Slip Shades
While the first impression of the design is French, we believe that these were made in the US. Heavy construction and a rotary off/on switch was more American than European. That floral design was so typical of the French Deco look, although it was also used by the most famous American Art Deco glass maker: Consolidated Glass...almost exclusively in all their patterns during the 30s. It was also repeated by Moe Bridges in some of their metal work.
The heavy glass is about ¼ of an inch thick, nicely serpentine shaped, and a nice amber color.
All in all...a unique and attractive pair of Art Deco sconces. Completely re-wired to UL standards in our UL shop, with new sockets and new rotary switch. Each socket rated for up to 100 watts, and naturally, LED bulbs can be installed too.
Measurements:
•Height: 9 ¾" overall.
•Width: 5 ¼" overall.
•Projection: 3 7/8" from the wall into the room.
A mounting kit will be supplied.
Simply a great find for a classic, elegant ambiance.
Price: $935.00 for the pair, plus $25.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

A very neat shell motif set of the British theater sconces from England.
These sconces are often called "Odeon Sconces," since one of the main movie house chains in Britain named all their theaters "Odeon." Odeon is sometimes a synonymous term for a movie theatre in Britain. Saying "Let's go to the Odeon" is the same as saying "Let's go to the movies."
The Odeon sconces vary in style...most popular was the shell motif. These types of sconces were often used with frosted, amber, and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over half a century or more. This offering has a bit of the shell motif, with a more Deco style line décor.
The frames of the sconces are solid brass, which have an antique finish.
The shades are a pleasant amber color, and lighted with TWO sockets for a more even distribution of light.
We have rewired these sconces to UL American standards with new American porcelain chandelier sockets in our UL shop. So, these are ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit, which we will supply.
Measurements:
•Height: 9"
•Width: 9"
•Projection: 5" from the wall into the room.
Uses candelabra size (E12) bulbs, like the ones common on household chandeliers.
Price: $605.00 for the pair with shades, plus $25.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.
Residents of Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and International Customers: We gladly ship our listings to customers worldwide. Shipping costs are calculated and invoiced separately on a per order basis. These sconces are larger than normal, and project into the room more than most sconces from the 1920's era. If your wish is for sconces that make a statement, these might be it.
Cast solid brass backplates with a Hi/Low antique finish, and great design detail.
The shades are really quite interesting. Heavy cast glass with heavy embossed pattern designs, which are amber color. There is a band of clear glass design at the top and through the center, which cannot be seen too clearly in the pictures due to the lens blur, but which is quite effective.
Measurements:
•Overall Height: 13"
•Overall Width: 6", including the shade.
•Projection: 9 ½" from the wall into the room.
•Backplate Footprint: 4 ¾" wide x 10 ½" tall.
Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs were installed in each. The on/off switch is mounted onto the backplate. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
Price for the pair: $605.00, plus $25.00 for careful packing and Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

Art Deco "Nile" chandelier by Lincoln Mnf, from a family called “The Nile Group," circa 1935.
An original antique chandelier with original antique glassware, but fully re-wired in our UL shop to be code compliant and UL approved.
Lincoln was an aluminum foundry that only offered a couple of finishes for their fixtures. One was gold highlights (as demonstrated by this chandelier), or completely covered with gold. The accent technique is, in our opinion, far more attractive, and of the period. Old gold is ageless, and not bracketed for a period or style.
The casting technique for the reticulated panels is simply great. Even Sears sold this fixture, and can be found in the Sears lighting catalogs of the times.
Simply elegant, and quality to the maximum.
We took our picture with a mere 15 watt bulb so the camera lens would focus on the entire chandelier and shade detail...not get blown out by the strong bulb.
This chandelier has have been completely rewired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. It will be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware.
Measurements:
•Height: 29"
•Width: 22"

Very nice two light, slip shade, Art Deco pendant by Mid West Mnf. The decorative elements of this two light pendant are really quite nice. There's a crackle surface finish in old gold, surrounded by elements of nickel plating, complete with a tapered deco center motif.
Mid-West really did know how to design iconic fixtures, and this one has a taste of step-deco with the restrained features of Streamline design. Circa 1934 - 1937, it does appear in their literature as the Empire design. The family consisted of a 6 shade chandelier (with a couple of different stem configurations); a three light chandelier; this two light pendant; and then wall sconces. We have just received a pair of wall sconces which will be restored and available later.
We have rewired the pendant to UL standards with new sockets in our UL shop. So, it's ready to hang with a standard light mounting kit which we will supply.

Mid-West was a top-of-the-line manufacturer who, in their beginning, only cast solid bronze lights that were exceedingly difficult due to

Mid-West was a top-of-the-line manufacturer who, in their beginning, only cast solid bronze lights that were exceedingly difficult due to
their reticulated surfaces. Casting reticulations, as any casting man will tell you, is darn difficult. Casting material just doesn't
feed a reticulated casting fully unless the gating is extremely accurate, and the skill very precise. So...here we have a pair of top-
of-the-line, near-mint sconces in solid bronze, circa 1935.
Their crackle-glass shades are a little rough where they go into the fitters, but not noticeable when installed.
A reference to Mid-West talks about a board meeting held during the Depression, where some members of the board argued to change their
materials from bronze to cheaper offerings, since they were afraid that customers would not be available to purchase the higher-end
lighting that they made due to the financial downturn of the Depression. The Mid-West CEO/President denied the idea of substituting and
stated that there are always people with money. While they did not stop casting fabulous bronze lights, they did add an aluminum line to
compete with Lincoln Mnf, who was selling to Sears. Sears customers, during the Depression, would not normally come up to the pricing
level of Bronze Materials. The CEO was correct. Mid-West survived the Depression, and was sold a few years back to a large lighting
conglomerate (information courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Lighting Museum).
We have re-wired these sconces to UL standards with new sockets in our UL shop. Each sconce has a rotary switch. They are ready to
hang with a standard light mounting kit, which we will supply.
Measurements:
•Height: 15"
•Width: 6 ½"
•Projection: 5" from the wall into the room.
Price: $1,485.00 for the pair with their crackle glass shades, plus $25.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

ANT-475 Pair of Art Deco Antique Polychrome Wall Sconces from the Victorian Line by Gill
Gill was a bit of an Art Deco rebel. He did not like angular Art Deco lines. He actually wrote papers criticizing the departure from traditional Victorian/Edwardian lines to what he considered a lazy design with straight lines. (Courtesy of Kelly Art Deco Light Museum)
So...here we have a pair of his sconces that in his catalog, circa 1935, were actually named the Victorian Line. You can see some great pictures on page 312, in Book I, Lighting Fixtures of the Depression Era by Jo Ann Thomas. While there are mistakes in her books...the catalog pages are still neat to see.
The condition of these Gill sconces is simply wonderful. The ORIGINAL polychrome colors are just that...original...and only so gently cleaned up. They are really GOOD!! The shades are amber in color, and in very respectable condition. Don't like where Gill Co. put the mold separation of the shade...right down the center...but that is original too...so not much we can do about it. Still, a remarkable conditioned pair of truly antique...near-mint condition...Gill sconces.
We have rewired these sconces to UL standards with new sockets in our UL shop. Each sconce has a rotary switch. So,these are ready to hang with a standard light mounting kit which we will supply.
Measurements:
•Height: 10 5/8"
•Width: 5 ½"
•Projection: 6 ½" from the wall into the room.
The lights have been rewired with standard household medium base E26 sockets, which can use either incandescent, compact fluorescent or LED light bulbs. If using incandescent bulbs, we recommend using no more than 60 - 65 watts to protect the fragile antique shades from excessive heat.
Price: $935.00 for the pair with their original shades, plus $25.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.
