This lovely Jardinière is a nice size as it measures 6 1/2" tall and is 7 3/4" in diameter.
The Planter depicts a border of Embossed Scrolls around the top rim separated by a round bead between each scroll. The bottom third of the Planter is finished with four horizontal rings to complete the look.
This is a Spectacular example of the Blended glaze and is by far the nicest one I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The base color is Green as that is the color of the interior as well as the background color on the exterior. For Sale is a wonderful Art and Crafts Styled Vase made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Vase is done in what I call a "Squat Raised Buttressed Handled" More »
For Sale is a wonderful Art and Crafts Styled Vase made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Vase is done in what I call a "Squat Raised Buttressed Handled" planter. The Vase is done in one of Fulper Pottery's most beautiful glaze combinations known as "Leopard Skin". The Vase has a nice size to it as it stands 3 1/4" tall and is 6 3/4" in diameter at the outside top handle measurement.
This Planter displays an outstanding green-brown mottled Leopard Skin Crystalline Glaze. The two tone Pea Green Glaze seems to be the main color of the Vase with the Leopard Skin Crystals covering throughout. These spots are plentiful on both sides of the vase and the pictures speak for themselves. The Glaze displays a two tone green at the neck with wonderful crystals throughout the lower half. The handles on both sides even have the Leopard Skin spots. The inside of the bowl has a Cats Eye Flambe' Glaze with copper dust crystals in the bottom. The Planter is further accented with 2 raised buttressed style handles that rise up from the waist and goes above the top lip. Then it reaches over and back down and attached to the top round lip perfectly. These appear to be two ear shaped buttress style handles. This Gives this piece that added Arts & Crafts, Mission shape.
The Planter is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a Glaze pops but they are circular in shape and resemble the Leopard Skin spots and fit right in. These are pictured. The inside shows minor scratches in the bottom from use and is typical of a piece with this amount of age. The Vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's incised "Fulper" vertical inside an oval Racetrack signature mark. This was Fulper's middle period mark and was made circa 1916-1922. This form is one of the most desirable to own in Fulper Pottery. This is known as shape number 73 in the Fulper Pottery Catalog and is simply described as a "Shouldered Jardinière"
This form used to be fairly common to see but I have seen very few examples in the past few years. It appears that the collectors are hanging on to these beauties. This is an excellent example of this form and glaze from Fulper. I'm quite sure the Buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This would look Great on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. « Less

For Sale is a nice piece of Art Pottery made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The item is called a "Mission Style Planter or Bowl" and it is done in Hampshire More »
For Sale is a nice piece of Art Pottery made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The item is called a "Mission Style Planter or Bowl" and it is done in Hampshire Pottery's most famous Matte Cucumber Green Glaze. The planter is a nice cabinet size as it stands 2 1/2" tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter at the bulge. The piece has a 3 1/2" diameter foot or bottom ring.
The Planter displays a very nice mottled cucumber matt green glaze. It has nice even color throughout . The style of the planter is very much Arts and Crafts and has a very pleasing shape. The Planter has a large top opening 3" in diameter. It is bulbous in shape and has a nice and graceful flow to it.
The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with impressed script marks that reads, "Hampshire Pottery" along with the "M" in a circle impressed mark. This mark helps us determine when this vase was made. The "M" in a Circle Mark was used during Cadmon Robertson's tenure with Hampshire Pottery. He was their Chemist and help to develop over 900 different glazes. This mark was used to honor his Wife "Emoretta". She was the Sister of the founder, James Scollay Taft.
Hampshire started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown. This the nickname "Poor Mans Grueby" was given to this line by the Grueby Pottery collectors. Hampshire Pottery closed after Cadmon Robertson's death and reopened again in 1916. They produced Art Pottery until 1917 and then they focused on Dinnerware for Hotels and Restaurants along with Souvenirs until 1923 when Hampshire Pottery Closed permanently.
This will make a wonderful addition to any matte Pottery collection of Art Pottery and would look great on that Stickley Mission Arts and Crafts Bookcase. This is known as shape number 22/1 in the Hampshire Pottery re-print portfolio catalog of 1916. Based on the signature mark this Planter was made, circa 1904-1914. « Less

For Sale is a beautiful piece of Art Pottery made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is called "Cherry Blossom" and it is done in their most More »
For Sale is a beautiful piece of Art Pottery made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is called "Cherry Blossom" and it is done in their most highly collected and sought after three color background Glaze. The piece has some size to it as it stands 6" tall and is 8 1/4" in diameter. The shape is considered a Planter or Jardinière.
The pattern depicts vertically running Pink slits that covers two-thirds of the piece from the bottom to the Chest of the Vase. Clinging to the top of the stilts is a vine of fully opened Cherry Blossoms entangled with Brown Vines and Green Leaves. The background glaze is subtle as it bleeds from a Cherry tint leading upwards to a subtle Satin Matte Blue Green Glaze. The piece is accented on the neck of each side of the planter with small ear shaped handles. This is such a beautiful Roseville Pattern especially with all these colors.
The Planter is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no, cracks, chips, nicks, or dings. The piece is unsigned but it still retains part of its original Retail Store label. There is also a number "5" incised by a stilt mark as well as the number "9" written in blue glaze. These are more than likely the finishes marks. There are also remnants of felt located along the bottom edge in 3 areas to help prevent it from scratching the furniture. This is known as shape number 627-6" in The Roseville Pottery Catalog pages.
Those of you who collect this pattern and want a nice clean example will surely welcome this one into their collection. This piece shows minor signs of use. This Roseville Planter was made circa 1932. « Less

For Sale is a wonderful piece of art pottery made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Freesia" and the shape is a Large Jardiniere. The Vase is quite large as it measures 6 1/8" tall and is 9 1/4" in diameter outside handle measurement. The Base or Foot of the Vase measures 4 1/8" in diameter.
The Vase depicts trumpet shaped flowers with leaves climbing across the piece on both sides. This background was glazed in a lighter Green Accented with a darker green on the lower and upper part of the Jardiniere. The Flowers are done in a nice Pastel Lilac and Creamy Beige grouping on both sides. There are Mint to Olive Green leaves on both sides as well. The ear shaped handles give this Jardiniere its wonderful balance.
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. For Sale is a lovely bowl made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Gardenia" and it is done in their ever Popular Gray Background Glaze. The More »
For Sale is a lovely bowl made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Gardenia" and it is done in their ever Popular Gray Background Glaze. The Bowl measures approximately 2 3/4" all and has a diameter of 8 3/8" outside handle measurement. The rim of the bowl measures 6 1/4" wide.
The pattern is a very pleasing one of a Banded White Gardenia in full bloom surrounded by detailed veined leaves on each side of the Flower. The bowl is just wonderful as it Bleeds from a Soft Lilac Purple at the bottom to a Medium Gray and then back to the soft lilac bordering the rim. There are two small rounded handles to complete the look.
The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks. nicks, chips or dings. There is the usual crazing that is common with this glaze. I have owned over 50 pieces of Gardenia in my Lifetime and I am pretty sure that every single one of them had crazing. I believe this to be very common and consistent with their Glaze Combinations for this line. There is also one small glaze miss on one of the handles and inside of a flower cluster which is factory and does not take away from its' value.
The Bowl is signed on the bottom "Roseville U.S.A." along with the Shape number 626-6" in raised relief. There is also the numbers "7" and possibly a "5" written in a blue grease pencil. I believe these to be the Finishers and Artists initials. This Bowl is very lovely and will enhance any Roseville Gardenia Pottery Collection.
The Bowl was made, Circa 1950. « Less
