M Zunder & Sons Stoneware 2 Gallon Crock New Haven CT
A 2 gallon stoneware crock from New Haven Connecticut. Incised marked M Zunder & Sons New Haven CT This Jug Cannot Be Sold and on the bottom the crest logo. Maier Zunder was born in Fuerth, Bavaria, Germany, 1829. He immigrated in 1848, first to New York, and to New Haven in 1852 after his brother Samuel died. Samuel owned a grocery store on Church St. When Samuel died, his widow, Regina, asked Maier to come to help run the business. Maier and Regina soon married. The store became a wholesale house under the name, M. Zunder & Sons and distributed groceries, tobacco products, and wines. He also served a booking agent for the North German Lloyd Steamship Lines. The jug stands a little under 14". There is discoloration as shown and a very old rim chip also as shown. There is a cork still in place inside the jug. The handle has a hairline. « Less

Another gorgeous piece from our collection of pitchers. This is Ridgway & Co. (Hanley, England) and dated to 1835, fully marked on the bottom. Original pewter lid which still works well. Vibrant floral patterns around the whole body with scrolled foliate design above and a footed base. A wonderfully ornate handle adds the finishing touch. Stands about 9 1/4" at its highest. Another fantastic early pitcher! This late 1800's early 1900's yellow ware pitcher is likely McCoy, but no maker marks. Stands 8 1/4" and has a grape motiff on either side. There is a small chip on the bottom rim as shown, otherwise no chips, cracks or repairs. There is a normal amount of crazing for the age. Primitive green paint against the yellow body, a great old piece of pottery.

We are pleased to offer this yellow ware pitcher with Rockingham glaze. A beautiful piece, late 1800's/early 1900's era. Stands 8" high and is 8 1/2" tip of spout to end of handle, a large pitcher indeed. The pitcher features a strutting peacock in full relief along with twigs and berries, the same depiction on either side. No maker marks. The bottom rim is a little rough, otherwise very good condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. There is crazing throughout. « Less

We are very pleased to offer you this blue glazed yellow ware pitcher. A rare piece in blue glaze, we have not seen another like it. Stands 7 3/4" high and is 8 1/2" tip of spout to handle. There is a fruit and floral pattern on top with a ribbed body. Great condition with only a couple of minor flakes, otherwise no chips, cracks or repairs. There are no maker marks.
