The ultimate Art Deco partial dresser set, consisting of a box and hand-mirror. Made in Austria, 1920''s. Measurements: Box is 6 1/2 inches in length; 2 3/8 inches high; 4 1/4 inches back to front. Mirror is 11 7/8 inches long; 5 1/4 inches wide. Made of bronze with gilding, enamel and marcasite decoration. The box has it''s original, fitted glass liner, which is extremely thick and heavy and has two round indentations on one rim, possibly to aid in lifting it out of the box. The mirror has it''s original, bevelled glass. Rectangular box. The sides are moulded in a fabulous pattern of stylised lotus and scrolls, reflecting the interest in Egyptian Revival themes during the Art Deco period. The linearity and geometric nature of the pattern further reflects the Art Deco style. The background to the pattern is stippled/hand-beaten in contrast to the smoothe, raised texture of the pattern. The borders of the sides are raised beadwork in different sizes and forms. A scalloped thumbpiece makes opening the lid easy. The top of the lid is exquisite and a tour-de-force of enamelling techniques. A narrow white enamel and gold, scalloped double border. Within, two rounded rows of cobalt blue enamelling on a gold ground. The corners, applied with gilded, moulded foliage. The main ground of the lid is covered in superb guilloche enamel of a golden-orange colour and a variety of engine-turned patterns under the enamelling. The center is like the ripples on a pond, radiating outwards, while the outside is a tight geometric arrangement. The lid is applied with a superb enamel and marcasite flower arrangement. Deep blue flowers with gold outlines and marcasite stamen and stems, with bright green foliage, stand out strongly against the orange background and are contained by the cobalt blue of the border. The Egyptian Revival theme is echoed here again, with the stylised flowers. The bottom of the box is patterned gilt. The mirror shows the same patterns and decoration as the box. The bottom corners and arch of the upper curve on the back are applied with scrolling gilt metal decoration and the join of handle to mirror (a bit loose) is held within a beautiful gilt housing. It has been suggested that the lighter colouring of the bottom foliage might be due to a restoration, but if so, it has been so well done, that there are no marks of it having been worked on. Marks: an incised AUSTRIA on the housing of the handle of the mirror. Generally, condition is fabulous. There is some discoloration on the gilding underneath the box. Glass insert and mirror are both original and in very good condition with no discoloration, chips/cracks. Status: For Sale Reference#: 4106 Condition: good Year: 1925 Title: ART DECO GILT BRONZE ENAMEL MARCASITE BOX & MIRROR SET « Less

Art Deco ceramic handpainted fan vase made in England, 1930''S by Tuscan Decoro Pottery. Measures a tad over 8 1/4 inches high. Round base in cream with painted red-brown concentric circles. The vase fans out on the sides in curving flutes, with a fantastic series of globes on either side. These orbs are graded in size with biggest on the top. The top of the vase is curved and rounded and forms different shapes, depending on the angle it is seen from. The surface is handpainted with wonderful flowers in pinks, orange, yellows, reds, browns on an unusual pale mint-green ground. The top rim is painted with an emerald-green and white stripe. A number of marks under the vase: incised D 331, believed to be the model number; D331/812 and a O in a brown handwritten mark just below an incised curve with a dot, which might be the potter''s mark. Factory stamp in green ink: TUSCAN DECORO POTTERY and Made in England. Vase is in very good condition with no chips/cracks/damage of any sort. Crazing of the glaze is normal and acceptable for pottery of this age and can be seen clearly in the ''photos. Green veld was attached by a previous owner to protect tables/surfaces from scratching. Vintage Art Deco porcelain figure of two dancing girls with original vase and frog base. Made by Hutschenreuther in Germany during the Art Deco period - 1920 - 30''s. Measurements: vase is 9 inches wide and 2 inches high. Figural group is 8 inches at highest parts. ROund vase in creamy porcelain. Scalloped and moulded patterns on the outside. A fitted frog in the center is round with holes for water/flowers and a flat plateau which is the base for the figural group. The figure depicts two girls at play / dance - one is pulling the other and both lean back for balance - one with outstretched arm. The figure is full of movement - girls dance on their toes, legs intertwined, balancing, dresses flying back. Base is round and modelled with daisy-like flowers. Classic Art Deco lamp in smoky Lalique style moulded glass and exceptionally modelled butterfly woman in bronze and celluloid.Measures 11 1/4inches high. The base is like a layered Deco building with graded sizes, smaller as they go up. Shaped like a flower, with the petals carved into wonderful pyramidal and fanlike geometric shapes that lead the eye towards the figure perched on top. The butterfly lady is wonderfully modelled so that while she is dressed and hooded, her clothes emphasize her form, both back and front. The clothes are in the form of a butterfly costume, finely detailed. The modelling and texture of the bronze have an almost buttery tactile look. The lamp is in excellent, original condition. Very close scrutiny will reveal a tiny chip under the base, quite unnoticeable and the gilding of the bronze is naturally, very slightly worn on the legs.
