Cream interior and underside. Vent hole to the underside of cover. Impressed ''H.B & C15 CHOISY'' and ''20'', and painted maker''s mark to the underside. Generally good. Dish: Repaired crack across base and up one side. Cover: Tight hairline to rim. Repaired crack under the lobster''s face and left claw. Fairy lamps originated in England in the 1840''s and are candle burning night lights that would have been used in nurseries, hallways, and dimly lit corners of the home. Good. Date cipher for 1884 Large Gustafsberg Majolica compote. The top is decorated with a mottled brown/ochre center, surrounded by four decorative dragon panels. Four oval mottled plaques in-between. Brown gadrooned border around the rim, with studded bands outlining the panels and center. A hexagonal column forms the stand, with four griffins well modeled at the bottom. Circular base with fluted border around the edge. Green reverse. Maker''s mark impressed ''GUSTAFSBERG 84'' with an anchor inside the stand. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. No flakes. Slight wear to the center. Kiln effects: several glaze pops around the rim; a piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the center.
