Brown stipple ground, with deep relief foliate scroll, fruit and mask heads. Cobalt rim. Turquoise reverse with three stilt marks inside the foot. Maker''s marks including ''1538'' on the foot. Good. Victorian, circa 1890 Staffordshire figure depicting a boy and girl standing side by side on an oval base entitled ''GEORGE MULLERS ORPHANS BRISTOL'' in black indented capitals. She carries a basket and he carries a bag. Both children are wearing the uniform of the school founded by George Muller. This school, along with The Red Maids school and Christ''s Hospital school, were founded in Bristol by philanthropists to care for the poor and orphaned. Decorated all round.
