Circa 1890 Majolica Palissy plate with three dueling lizards and a beetle on mossy ground. Brown reverse with two hanging holes on the foot. Three stilt marks inside the foot along with maker''s marks impressed ''M.MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' and ''6''. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Three chips to the foot (probably during firing) and a further three shallow chips associated with stilt marks. Some flaking to the moss. Kiln effect: shrinkage crack to tail of one lizard. Repair to neck of the smaller lizard. Restoration to one beetle leg, and one other leg rebuilt. Small restored chip to tail tip of the largest lizard. 9.25ins diameter   « Less

Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica Isle of Man teapot modeled as a three legged bearded Manx sailor sitting on a coil of rope. His third leg sticks out behind him to form the spout. He is holding a flag in his left hand which forms the handle, and his head forms the teapot cover. He wears turquoise trousers, a cobalt blue shirt, a scarf around his neck and a brown hat. Retailed by Broughton of Douglas, Isle of Man 1871-1895. Marks molded into base ''W.BROUGHTON DOUGLAS ISLE OF MAN''. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Victorian, circa 1870 George Jones? Majolica basketweave strawberry server with deep molded strawberries, flowers and leaves. Two lavender glazed bowls at the top for sugar and cream. Handle above the bowls in the form of a strawberry leaf. Impressed pattern registration diamond to reverse. There is much speculation regarding the maker of this dish. One thing is certain from the quality - it is definitely made by one of the top English makers. Good. No hairlines. No chips. No flakes. Kiln effect: shrinkage crack to reverse. George III, dated 1782 Miniature 1782 Silkwork Sampler by Sarah Pickard. Unframed. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Simple line border, cross stitched in places along the right side, with meandering strawberries top and bottom. Colours cream, greens, dark red, yellow, copper, brown and black. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-9. Verse reads ''The LORD my Sheperd is> I shall be well supply''d since he is> mine and I am his what can I want besid''. Signed and dated ''Sarah Pickard 1782''. A few motifs including crowns, hearts and green plants. Very Good. No holes. A number of pale patchy stains, and uniform age darkening of the ground. Very minor stitch loss to the border. Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Remnants of paper to the reverse, where the sampler was previously glued. Victorian, circa 1870 George Jones Majolica cheese dome and stand decorated with apple blossom moldings on barrel effect ground. Mauve interior. Air hole to top of dome. Mottled green and brown underside to stand. Three stilt marks inside the foot along with molded figure of 8 tablet with ''GJ'' monogram ''STOKE ON TRENT'' and painted pattern number ''1427''. Dome and stand are possibly matched as the dome is not a perfect fit on the stand, and the interior glaze color is slightly different on both pieces. Despite this, it displays very well. Good. Dome: Kiln effect: a few pieces of kiln detritus to the top. Repaired crack to side. Stand: No restoration. Small flake to inside rim. Slight wear to interior and foot. 10.5ins high, 12.25ins diameter (stand)   « Less
