The face of the case depicts gold gilt cranes among the rushes with Fujimi Yama in the background, the reverse depicts gold gilt cranes in flight. The top of the case has a cross hatced design. This item has been SOLD. A beautiful Imperial Russian Cigarette Case with a later Soviet inscription engraved on the back, dated 1928. Research suggests that these fine silver items were confiscated by the revolutionary government and used as awards for various "Soviet" achievements. That seems to be what occurred with this case, The face of the case is decorated with a classic bas relief lion under an arch of leaves and flanked by palms. The case corners are rounded and there is a ruby/garnet cabochon thumb. The interior is gilt with some wear and retains the fabric cigarette retainers. Both sides of the case bear touch marks as shown in the photos. The back has an engraved presentation and has some surface abrasion and a very small dent at the top. A beautiful piece of history waiting to be revealed. Size is three by four and three eights inches.   « Less

From a Scottish collection, this small, egg shaped spice container is the first we have encountered. Crafted in wood with a threaded closure, it apparently contained cinnamon. The exterior has a textured finish and the interior remains natural. While the piece comes from a Scottish collection, we are unable to give a specific attribution. It is well known that quality travelers in the 17th an 18th C carried their own spices but beyond the documentation surrounding fine silver boxes little scholarship can be found. The face is chased in a very refined floral pattern with a central cartouche bearing this initials JB. The back of the case is unadorned and marked sterling. This item has been SOLD. This fine quality, sterling grade cigarette case is an example of the Deco influence on late Imperial style. The classic Deco motif etched on the face is complimented by the elegant form. The thumb is an oval ruby color cabochon, The gilt interior is in very good condition showing light wear from use. The lamp snuff is attached by a silver chain. In very good condition, with no dents or damage only light abrasion from use and age. The lighter wick is now missing. This item is a 1940's Wine-Dip Soda Syrup Dispenser, it is a great collectors item. It is a clear patterned glass. On the front is "Drink Wine-Dip Trade Mark Register U.S. Pat Off". There is a crack on the bottom and some discolored spots, but this is still a great looking glass bottle. It is 11 1/2" tall and around 6 1/2" in the center and 5 1/4" at the bottom and it weighs 3 1/2 lbs. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested. SHIPPING.
