A RARE ENGLISH SILVER LUSTRE POTTERY BUST OF PRINCESS CHARLOTTE, Circa 1816. This rare silver lustre figure was made to celebrate the marriage of Princess Charlotte to More »
A RARE ENGLISH SILVER LUSTRE POTTERY BUST OF PRINCESS CHARLOTTE, Circa 1816. This rare silver lustre figure was made to celebrate the marriage of Princess Charlotte to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg on May 2, 1816. Intertestingly, her wedding dress was in silver lamé (see below). The unusual lustre bust of Princess Charlotte is placed on a shaped plinth. ;She is depicted bust length with her hair in a French roll and a hairband. There is a repaired chip to the front right corner. Height: 13 inches Princess Charlotte: Princess Charlotte Augusta was the daughter of the Prince Regent (later King George IV) and wife of Prince Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg. She was as strongly loved by the people of England as her father was disliked. She died on November 6th, 1817, at age 21, from complications of childbirth, after bearing a dead child. The loss of the potential queen and her heir was deeply felt. (http://www.georgianindex.net/Prn_Charlotte/P_Charlotte.html) Leopold and Charlotte were married at Carlton House in London on the evening of May 2, 1816. Some fifty privileged guests, many of them members of the royal family, attended the wedding ceremony which took place in the Crimson State Room at Carlton House on the evening of 2 May 1816. Princess Charlotte''s wedding dress was silver lama [lamé] on net, over a silver tissue slip, embroidered at the bottom with silver lama in shells and flowers. Body and sleeves to correspond, elegantly trimmed with point Brussels lace. The manteau was of silver tissue lined with white satin, with a border of embroidery to answer that on the dress, and fastened in front with a splendid diamond ornament On the Death of the Princess Charlotte Yes Britain mourns, as with electric touch For youth, for love, for happiness destroyed. Her universal population melts In grief spontaneous; and hard hearts are moved, And rough unpolished natures learn to feel For those they envied, levelled in the dust By fate''s impartial stroke; and pulpits sound With vanity and woe to earthly goods, And urge, and dry the tearÂYet one there is Who midst this general burst of grief remains In strange tranquillity; whom not the stir And long drawn murmurs of the gathering crowd, That by his very windows trail the pomp Of hearse, and blazoned arms, and long array Of sad funereal rites, nor the loud groans And deep felt anguish of a husband''s heart Can move to mingle with this flood one tear. In careless apathyÂperhaps in mirth He wears the day. Yet is he near in blood, The very stem on which this blossom grew, And at his knees she fondled, in the charm And grace spontaneous, which alone belongs To untaught infancy:ÂYet O forbear Nor deem him hard of heart, for, awful, struck By heaven''s severest visitation, sad, Like a scathed oak amidst the forest trees Lonely he stands; leaves bud, and shoot, and fall, He holds no sympathy with living nature, Or time''s incessant change. Then, in this hour, While pensive thought is busy with the woes And restless change of poor humanity, Think then, oh think of him, and breathe one prayer From the full tide of sorrow spare one tear, For him who does not weep! « Less

For sale I have a Beautiful piece of pottery made by Brush McCoy of Roseville, Ohio. The shape is a Lamp and the Glaze is known as Onyx. The Lamp stands 14 1/2" tall to where the lampshade will rest on the harp and is 8" wide outside handle measurement. The pottery portion of this lovely lamp base is 6 5/8" tall.
The Lamp displays a wonderful all over carmelized high gloss glaze that is very eye catching. There are light caramel hues that blend with chocolate syrup colors. There are streaks of white giving it that marble effect along with some Slate to Country Blue accents. There are applied scrolled handles to finish the look of this nice pottery table lamp. The cord set and socket are original to the lamp and the lamp does work.
The Lamp Base is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There is a rough spot on the bottom where the lamp was pulled away from the mold but does not show when it is displayed and this was done at the time of manufacturing. The lamp should have a lamp shade between 6 1/2 to 7 inches in height as to not show the light bulb. You should always bring your lamp base with you when trying to find the proper fitting shade as there are many different styles of lamps to compliment your base. I'm sure the Lucky Winner will not be disappointed with their newest decorative choice as Lighting is an important choice for every room of the home.
The Lamp Base was made Circa 1930-1940. « Less

For Sale I have a Wonderful Example of Art Pottery made by The Burley and Winter Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio. The piece is a Double Handled Vase and stands 7 5/8" More »
For Sale I have a Wonderful Example of Art Pottery made by The Burley and Winter Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio. The piece is a Double Handled Vase and stands 7 5/8" tall and is 7" wide outside handles measurement. The Vase displays a very nice mottled Glaze. It is done in a Light Mauve Background blended with a Sage Green Mottle. Burley Winter Pottery is rarely decorated because the beauty of their work is in their very Pleasing Shapes and Artistic Glazes. This particular Vase has two distinctly different sides as the first picture shows a very nice drippy Glaze over mottling. This side of the Vase has a deeper Mauve or Dusty Rose Glaze that goes all the way to the foot of the Vase. The Second Picture shows the opposite side that is a lighter Mauve and the Mottling on this side is Spectacular. There is also a nice Drip effect that stops at the Shoulder of the Vase and the Mottling on the Main Body is Soft and fairly consistent all the way to the Foot. The foot is Glazed in a Sage Green with hints of Robin's Egg Blue and Cream. This is just a Delightful Vase! The Vase is considered to be in Very Good to Excellent condition as there is a very minor chip on the foot that I have photographed in Picture 5 only for accuracy. I have a 10X zoom lens camera so it shows more here than when actually looking at the piece. It does not show when displayed. There are a couple of small glaze pops that happened during in manufacturing and do not detract from the Vases beauty. The piece is signed "45" which is the Shape Number. The original Burley Winter Pottery Company was in business from 1872-1932. It has somewhat of a complex history as there were quite a few potters named Burley in the Ohio Valley area and also several companies with Burley in their names. There were potters dating back as early as 1825 in the Crooksville, Ohio area with the Burley name and even as late as 1988 was under management of the grandsons of W. N. Burley. These are the ancestors to the Original Potter "Burley and Winters". They are making Pottery in the same exact Building today using some of the same molds that were found. They are using different glazes to establish the difference. They are also signed New Burley Winter. This Vase would look outstanding in any Mission, Arts and Crafts, Country or Shaker setting. This Vase was made Circa 1900-1920. « Less

For Sale I have a nice piece of pottery made by The Burley and Winter Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio. The shape is a Double Handled Vase. The piece measures 6 3/8" tall and is 6 3/4" in diameter outside handle measurements. The opening or mouth of the Vase is 4 9/16" in diameter on the outside rim. The Vase displays a very nice mottled Glaze. It is done in a Honey Caramel Brown Background blended with a Verde Green Mottle. Burley Winter Pottery is rarely decorated because the beauty of their work is in their very Pleasing Shapes and Artistic Glazes. This particular Glaze reminds me of Copper that has oxidized gracefully over time and is one of my favorites from their line. There are two handles that attach to the rim and belly of this lovely pot. The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There are a couple of small glaze misses/pin pops that happened in manufacturing and is very common with Burley Winter Pottery. There is also a small chip on the base that happened during manufacturing as that area is properly sanded and glazed over and unnoticable unless looking for it. The piece is unsigned except for the impressed"54" which is the shape number. The original Burley Winter Pottery Company was in business from 1872-1932. It has somewhat of a complex history as there were quite a few potters named Burley in the Ohio Valley area and also several companies with Burley in their names. For sale I have a lovely pottery Tea Set made by the Nelson McCoy Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio. The pattern is Ivy Leaf and the set is complete with Tea Pot, Sugar and More »
For sale I have a lovely pottery Tea Set made by the Nelson McCoy Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio. The pattern is Ivy Leaf and the set is complete with Tea Pot, Sugar and Creamer. The Tea Pot measures approximately 7 3/4" to the top of the handle, 10" from the spout to the opposing outer handle and is 6" deep.
The Sugar Bowl measures 3 3/8" tall (top of the handle), 6" long outer handle measurement and is 3 3/8" deep.
The Creamer measures 3 3/8" tall, 6" long and is 3 1/8" deep.
The Tea Set depicts English Ivy adorning each piece with a cleverly molded Branch for the Handles. There is an Egg Nog colored background glaze with naturalistic colors for the Branches and Leaves. You can see veining in the Ivy Leaves to give them a realistic touch. The set is done in a High Gloss glaze. What a nice country look with the trailing Ivy and the Earth Tones.
The Tea Set is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. There are a few pin pops and high gloss glaze misses but they do not detract from the set at all. There is minor crazing on the tea set but also unnoticable and does not take away from the value of this delightful find. The pieces are signed McCoy USA in raised relief.
The set was made Circa 1940's. « Less

For Sale I have a Splendid Arts and Crafts Style Vase made by the Zanesville Stoneware Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Vase is done in the very desirable Matt Green More »
For Sale I have a Splendid Arts and Crafts Style Vase made by the Zanesville Stoneware Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Vase is done in the very desirable Matt Green Glaze and the shape is what we call a Shoulder Shaped Vase. The Vase is rather large as it stands 8 1/4" tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter at the Shoulder. The Vase depicts a Large Tobacco Leaf on the Front Side and a Smooth Back side. The Matt Green Glaze is a real pleaser in the Arts and Crafts decorating scheme. You can see Veining under the thick matt green glaze. The Matt Green has a Glaze very similar to Hampshire Pottery's Cucumber Matte Green Glaze. The Glaze is thick and thinner towards the bottom edge. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The only issues is a few very small pin point glaze pops around the vase and is common with most Zanesville pieces. There is a small area on the lip that shows a glaze miss and there are some along the bottom edge pictured. This is Factory and it was made this way. The Vase is unsigned but it is know as shape number 102. Usually these numbers are impressed into the bottom but the thick Glaze is covering them. Usually Zanesville's has a clear beige sandy colored bottom but this one does not. The Green Glaze has obscured the mold number 102 and cannot be seen. I guarantee this to be an Original Zanesville 102 Leaf Vase in Matte Green. This is a wonderful form and would look just fine in any early Matte Green Art Pottery Collection. I'm sure it would look just fine on that Stickley Bookcase. This Vase was made in the early 1900's, Circa 1910-1920. « Less

For Auction I have a very beautiful Vase made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Vase is called a Double Handled Fan Vase and it is done in one of Fulper Pottery's most sought after Glazes known as Cats Eye Flambe. The Vase stands 6" tall and is 5 3/4" wide top measurement. The Vase depicts a Rich Caramel Glaze that is accented with Deep Brown Flambe Glaze Runs spilling over the top edge and down it side. The Vase look almost good enough to eat. The Fan shaped Vessel is accented with 2 Handles that Rise up from the Oval Foot on each end and Connects to the lower part of the Vessel. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is the smallest glaze pop along the bottom edge and can only be seen when turned upside down. The Vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's Racetrack Ink Stamp Signature mark. This would date this Vase to be made Circa 1922-1928. This is not a real common form to find especially in this condition with such a Great Glaze. The shape is so rare that it isn't even listed in the Fulper Book by John Hibel and Robert DeFalco. I'm sure the winner will not be disappointed. « Less
