Circa 1910 Five piece Minton Secessionist No.7 bathroom set. Comprising a wash bowl, jug/pitcher, chamber pot, sponge dish and drainer and a soap dish with cover and drainer. Decorated in shades of blue with gray tube linings. Cream interiors. Three stilt marks to undersides with printed maker''s marks ''MINTONS LTD No7''. Measurements - Wash bowl: 5.25ins high, 16.5ins diameter. Pitcher: 14.5ins high. Chamber pot: 5ins high, 9ins diameter. Sponge dish: 3ins high, 7.25ins diameter. Soap dish: 3ins high, 5.25ins diameter. Good. Wash bowl: Slight wear to rim. Kiln effects: several glaze pops to exterior; stained crazing to interior and underside. Three repaired rim cracks. Jug/pitcher: Kiln effects: a few glaze pops to spout; some breaks to the tube lining; crazing to exterior. Repaired crack to base and underside (still visible on interior). Chamber pot: Kiln effects: a few stained craze lines to foot; staining to interior, exterior and underside. Two repaired rim hairlines. Sponge dish: No restoration. Circa 1890 Mafra Majolica Palissy teapot modeled as two snakes among cabbage leaves. One snake forms the handle, the other larger snake coils underneath the leaves with its head forming the spout. Cabbage leaves cover. Cream interior and underside, with impressed maker''s mark ''''M.MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' inside the foot rim. Good. Teapot: Tiny chip to leaf, under smaller snake''s head. Flake to underside of larger snake''s mouth. Tiny flakes to leaf edges. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack along the mold join where the snake coil joins the base. Repair to one leaf (original leaf reattached). Restored chips to some leaf edges. Cover: Minor flaking to leaf edges. Restored chips to leaf edges. 6ins high by 8ins wide   « Less

The sampler is worked in silk on fine linen ground. Meandering leafy border. Colours olive green, cream, dark green, light green, magenta, copper and gold. Signed and dated ''Mary Atkinson : Taught by E. Williams 1816''. Finely embroidered motif of Britannia (upper torso and head is drawn on the canvas, not stitched) standing at the shore below a tree, sailing ship in the background. Good. A few holes. Stain to the ground above Britannia. A few pale stain specks. No stitch loss. Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run. Flaming wheel pattern around the base edge. Jumping faun pattern to the interior. Fish pattern to the center. Wedgwood ''Portland vase'' and ''MADE IN ENGLAND'' maker''s mark to underside. Fair. Repaired and stabilised crack all the way down one side of the bowl, to the foot. Foot has repaired and stabilised cracks. Victorian, circa 1860 Pair (possibly matched. Crazing differs between the two figures and the girl figure is slightly taller than the boy) Staffordshire figures of a young boy and girl, probably Royal children, each lying on the back of a russet and white spaniel. The spaniel is standing on an oval, naturalistic base with three legs molded free. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Vent hole to reverse of both figures and another to underside of the boy figure. Painted mark to underside of both. Similar piece illustrated figure 2244, page 146, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Boy: Hairline to reverse of base. Gilt almost completely rubbed. Slight rubbing to tip of spaniel''s tongue. Kiln effect: Restored chip to the boy''s right foot. Retouching to the spaniel. Girl: Slight rubbing to gilt and ground. Kiln effects: slight staining to crazing on hind leg and tail, shrinkage cracks to underside. Restored chip to spaniel''s nose and mouth.
