Victorian, circa 1870 George Jones Majolica strawberry server with sugar bowl, creamer and serving spoon. Server in the form of a dish decorated with green leaves and strawberry blossom on turquoise ground. Bird perched on the rim between two hollow nests which form wells for creamer and sugar bowl. Mottled underside with three stilt marks, painted pattern number ''2529'' in reserve, and impressed pattern registration diamond for 8th March 1870 all inside the foot. Sugar bowl and creamer both with mottled exteriors, ochre rims, turquoise interiors, and three stilt marks to underside. Spoon modeled as overlapping strawberry leaves to bowl, and leaf stems tied with a blue ribbon to handle. Good. Server: Two small flakes to inner rim of one well (not visible when sugar bowl is in place). Kiln effects: small firing pit inside one well. Restored chip to bird''s beak. Repair where bird joins dish. Sugar: No restoration. Kiln effect: small firing pit to interior. Creamer: Kiln effect: a few tiny glaze pops to interior. Retouched flake to rim. Victorian, circa 1870 Holdcroft Majolica cheese dome and stand. The dome is molded with fish swimming against a dark cobalt ground, above a bed of reeds. Fish handle on top of dome with three overlapping fish lying underneath. Four air holes. Ochre interior. Stand with reed molding around the rim and a mottled green, brown and ochre center. Ochre reverse. Good. Dome: No restoration. Some wear to cobalt ground. Kiln effect: staining to interior. Stand: Wear to the center. Kiln effect: over glazed shrinkage line to the rim. ''Flight'' is modeled as Mary sat on a donkey, holding the baby Jesus in her arms, and accompanied by Joseph. ''Return'' is modeled as Mary sat on a donkey, holding a slightly older Jesus, and accompanied by Joseph who has a walking stick. Flowering bocage trees behind. Oval scroll bases. Shredded clay to the ground. Decorated all round. Two vent holes to underside. Similar piece illustrated figure page 256, ''English Earthenware Figures 1740-1840'' by Pat Halfpenny. Good. Flight: Minor paint losses to reverse of tree. Kiln effects: shrinkage line to Joseph''s neck; touch mark to the donkey''s tail; stray green enamel to Joseph''s nose. Victorian, circa 1850 Staffordshire figure with a Theatrical and Literary theme which features a boy beside a pillar, putting a crown on his head, stood on a rectangular base. The piece is titled, ''HENRY. V. TRYING ON THE CROWN.'' to the front of the base. Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt titles and embellishment. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the underside. This piece represents a scene from the Shakespeare play, ''The Second Part of King Henry IV''. Book reference,''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding, page 296, figure 1078. Generally good. Kiln effects: a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze to the base front corners; Notable crazing; craze lines to the mold join up the side, to the pillar on the front and also to the reverse.
