Art Deco Clarice Cliff Newport Pottery fruit bowl. Octagonal shape with shaped sides and a pattern of embossed fruit and flowers with bluebirds. Don't know what this pattern is - possible a variation of My Garden, or Celtic Harvest? The mould number is (I think - its blurry) 314, dating it around 1928+. Bowl measures approx. 22 cm wide and 9 cm high (8.3/4 inches wide and about 3.1/2 inches high). Body colour is a matt, slightly mottled, silver/beige grey. Excellent condition body, with a few minor stains - one in the inside, and two under the pattern on the lower part of the body (hidden from view).   « Less

A fantastic antique six-light Art Deco chandelier, dating from the 1930’s, in its original darkened nickel finish over bronze. Found in Louisville, KY, the chandelier begins with an Art Deco canopy ornamented with a bold zigzag design, coming down in a chain to an angular loop finial. Five white glass panels surround a light in the center of the chandelier. The five chandelier arms extend between the panels, ornamented with flowers, scrolls, and geometric designs. The bottom of the chandelier features a stepped design finishing a finial. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. The chandelier body measures 19” wide and 19-1/2” tall, and the fixture is 38” long overall. NC1404-RW   « Less

Very 1930s Deco style creamer and sugar by prestigious English pottery Minton. Earthenware in the cream body favoured at the period. Rather Clarice Cliff in style. The creamer has a tight hairline on the outside, from the rim down about 5 cm of the side. This shows only on the rim inside, and very very faintly the rest. Still well usable, and stylish design makes it very collectable. Sugar is in perfect condition. Sugar is 5.75 cm (2.1/4 inches) high and 9.5 cm diameter (3.3/4 inches). Creamer is 9.5 cm high (3.3/4 inches). Makers mark dates it to 1912-1930s. Priced for the fault.   « Less

A striking antique six-light Art Deco chandelier in its original silver plate over brass, dating from the 1930’s, with its original flashed glass panels. The chandelier begins with an Art Deco canopy ornamented with a zigzag border, coming down in a chain to a geometric loop finial. Five white flashed glass panels surround a light in the center of the chandelier. Piece of black glass extend between the flashed glass panels, crossed with silver lightning bolts. The chandelier arms are ornamented with volute detail, and each holds a black downward-facing bobeche with a ziggurat border and a pointed black finial. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks, the expected fleabites around the edges. Cast 1920-30 Art Deco sconces signed “Riddle Made in USA” with an interesting shell shaped “step” slip-in shade. The finish is pewter with high/lo accents. Riddle is “known” for exceptional decorative castings. As we look at these backplates with their myriad of lovely scrolls and decor, we can heartily agree. The shades are secured with set screws and there is a horseshoe style seg at the back which notches into the shade with the back set screw. An interesting adaptation. Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs was installed. The backplate has a rotary switch for on and off. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. Measurements: Overall height is 13 3/4” from the top of the shade to the bottom of the metal backplate. Overall widest part is the shade which is 5 1/2” wide. Projects into the room 5”. Cast 1939 Art Deco sconces signed that are in the Virden catalog #39 (i.e. 1939 as the catalog number reflected the year it was published). These sconces were item 6001 from the Carleton Series and Virden bragged: “Underwriters Approved”. The finish is pewter while the shades have that typical streamline concentric rings which are so very iconic streamline design. Please note the original casting blemish on the one sconce. Shown plainly in the pictures. It is original and was originally sold that way. Interesting that they let it out of the factory this way but America was still in the height of the depression, at that time, and everyone thought THREE times before eliminating anything in those difficult days.
