Ultimate circa 1800 gilt bronze signed and numbered French angel clock. This is the finest angel clock we have ever had the pleasure to offer for sale. This clock has been in my own collection for more than 25 years. When I bought it I had an expert clock maker clean the movement and make any adjustments required for the clock to run perfectly. With the clock comes the original pendulum, 2 keys, and bell. The clock is in absolutely mint condition. From the bottom of the base to the top of the angel's head the clock measures 18-5/8 inches high. The clock measures 13-1/4 inches wide by 5 inches deep. Just the angel alone measures 11-3/4 inches high. His wing span from wing tip to wing tip measures 8-1/4 inches. In one hand he holds a torch. His bow rests against his forearm. To his left, leaning against the clock is his quiver full of arrows. The front portion of the clock at the base has two mythological birds that look like swans, but their second half turns into a stylized high relief design, the type seen in 18th century clocks of this quality. Each bird faces a high relief sculptured center piece filled with flowers. The clock has black Roman numerals and black markers. The bottom of the clock face is signed Grenelle. The signature and markings incised on the back of the clock movement indicate this clock was made in 1805. The quality, composition and condition are the finest one might ever hope to find in a clock from this period. If you have been waiting a long time to find an extraordinary clock to grace your home and add to your collection you have found it here. This is the best of the best. I am very sure the next owner or museum that acquires this magnificent clock will consider it one of the most treasured pieces they were fortunate to acquire. You are viewing a rare Chippendale style crotch mahogany granddaughter clock with satin wood inlays. Having a broken arch pediment bonnet with American brass eagle surmount, gadrooned carved edges. Made by American clock maker William Heine of Philadelphia, PA in the Mid-20th Century, possibly one of his last bench-made clocks. Note the hand painted dial and moving sailing ship second hand. Also with a brass handmade 30 hour movement with original single lead weight, and brass pendulum. Probably the most significant feature is the original maker's label on the inside movement. Now available is this beautiful oak New Haven kitchen clock which features a wonderful reverse painted scene on the glass. The painting is really well done and looks like it might be a federal building, in colors of blue, green, gold, and brown. The clock has really nice carving details and great shaped edges. The oak is very nice, with a rich medium golden brown finish. We do have the key. There is a label on the inside of the clock, but it is very hard to read. It measures 23" in height, 14 7/8" from side to side, 4 5/8" from front to back, and weighs 7 pounds. Sorry but we do not know the exact age.
