A GREAT BOOK!! This is a workbook and history of fifteen folk-art toys, crafts, plays and stories fromthe Collection of the Boston Children''s museum by Edie Kraska. .. Images of yesterday lie in the corners of our minds; visions of raggedy dolls and lively puppets. Memories of toys to make and tales to tell. Wonderful 19th century names -- Zoetrope, Lazy Tongs - whose meanings we can''t quite recall. This simply wonderful 80 page book recounts the history of fifteen toys and crafts which entertained, instructed and enchanted children from times past and places near and far away. These folk art objects from the Boston Children''s Museum are REPRODUCED here so you can MAKE them following the easy instructions and clear drawings provided. Some of the graceful legends and interesting stories associated with these toys and crafts are told along with their history. .. Printed on extra-heavy paper, you can fold your own Japasnese Festival Dolls to celebrate O-hinamatsuri; or cut out intricate Polish Wycinanki to decorate your walls or windows. Discover the fun of making them, retelling the tales and performing the plays which make these folk-art toys come alive today. This book is a LIBRARY DISCARD. It is marked so, and the first blank cover page is torn in half. STILL, it is in very good condition. Condition: Very Good; Circa: 1979; Heigth: 8.5''; Width: 11'' « Less
