Rare, 19th Century adjustable music stand in mahogany. This fine American Centennial sheet music stand is a beautiful example of the Classical/Federal Revival style that was so popular in the last quarter of the 19th century, featuring a tri-pod base with graceful legs, delicate paw feet and acanthus leaf carved knees. The sheet music holder which is fully adjustable from almost upright to deeply tilted, has curled acanthus leaf sides and a central lyre shaped splat. The mechanism on the back of the music holder is a decorative Victorian cast brass which is in perfect working condition. The height of the stand also has a large degree of adjustability, with a metal rod in the base that attaches to the brass on the back and is raised and lowered via a round ornamental ring of brass, also in excellent working condition. Very good original finish which we have cleaned and waxed and nice original patina on the brass. One old repair to the music holder which is much more obvious on the back than on the front and a couple of spots of old re-gluing. Over-all good condition and completely functional. 47" tall at the shortest, adjustable to 64 1/2" x 21 1/2 " base diameter, the music holder is 17 1/2" wide x 13 3/4" high. « Less
