Victorian, date cipher for 1880 Minton Majolica oil lamp base of baluster form, decorated with a fruiting and flowering egg plant (aubergine) on dark ochre ground. Brass base, liner, and screw fitting at the top. Lamp fittings are removable and appear to be original. Green interior. Three stilt marks inside the base, along with impressed maker''s marks ''MINTONS'', pattern number ''2306'' and date cipher for 1880. Good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. No flakes. Wear to brass base, fittings and liner. Slight wear to exterior of pottery. Well concealed drill holes to base and lid, where it has been adapted for electricity.
