This is a fabulous gold leaf gesso frame in the Roccoco style. It is oval in shape and measures 201/2'' high by 14 1/2'' wide. The flourishes at the top measure 5'' away from the back. They look like waves of gold and silver. The frame currently holds a 1908 German chromolithograph of a beautiful girl out of the Arabian Knights and other paper applicays from the early 1900''s. These are mounted on lavender silk velvet material. This frame is suitable for framing an elegant mirror or just as it is in it''s current format. Antique Victorian micromosaic and brass picture frame. Made circa 1870 - 1890. Measures a little over 3 inches tall and 2 3/8inches wide. Unusually shaped with crenelated rectangular sides. The reserve for the picture is oval shaped with a twisted rope brass border. The frame is very finely set with tiny tesserae - the small size indicates that this might be an earlier piece. A special feature of this lovely little frame is the blown out cabochon cabbage roses that are raised well above the plane of the frame in 3-dimentional effect. The colours are very sensitively arranged, again showing greater care in the workmanship than usual. A variety of flowers in great profusion make this a particularly lovely and joyful frame. Native American Indian beaded picture frame, dated 1911. Rare animal theme.Length is 10'' excluding the fringe and 12 inches including the fringe at the bottom. Approx 7 3/4inches accross widest point.Oval center with honey gold glass bead and golden sequin border.The cloth background is sewn with raised florettes of roses and budding foliage. Surrounding the coral bead date - 1911 - is a pair of cats / monkeys with raised green backs. Above these are small scurrying wild animals or beavers/ otters ? in clear and golden beads with tiny black eyes and red noses. Edges with old transparent beads that are slightly iridised due to their age. Condition is very good considering the age and delicacy of the item. The loop for hanging the frame from, on top is missing. There are a few weak points in the beading - eg bottom left corner and bottom left of inner circle. Antique Caucasian tapestry weave and embroidery on wood picture frame. Approx 100 years old, or more. Measures 6inches accross at widest point and a little under 7inches high. Unusual 8-sided shape. Ground is mustard golden colour. A symbolic flower in blue forms a central medallion. Some salmon / orange designs that are repeated in a technique that leaves the canvas base bare. A key pattern around this repeats this technique bordered by brown woven threads and dark green embroidery. Basic geometric symbolic designs. Incredible rich patina to wooden frame around the textile portion. Backed by old paper and still has original glass front. Condition: excellent - no tears/rips/missing bits.
