Style:Eastlake Condition Restored Year c. 1884 Description:Standard Grade Wooton Patent Secretary in the Eastlake style eecuted in walnut and burl or cherry wood with ornate turnings incorporated in the gallery circa 1884. This design was created in response to demand for the simpler style influenced by Charles Eastlake. It is easy to see the contrast between the earlier fancier renaissance revival style and the later Eastlake version when shown together. Some have the original pencil signature on a drawer of desk trimmer Zue Jackson.Gold tooled leather writing board and bronze hardware throughout. This combination desk was designed much like a Wooton Cabinet Secretary but since it was in two parts rather than three it did not infringe on Wooton's #39 patent. In addition it had a sliding writing table which allowed the desk to be closed without disturbing work in progress. Production output was limited thus fewer desks are available today.
