Circa 1820-1840 Green Fitzhugh Chinese Export Oval Drainer with a crest of the family that more than likely a complete set of green fitzhugh was a special custom ordered in the early 1800's. This piece was used to set inside of a accompany meat platter, custom fitted. You would put the roast on this piece and the juices would drain into the deep platter. The Drainer Measures 12 1/4" X 9 1/2". The two round decorations on each side of the middle opening was apparently the family's initial inside the gold circle. More than likely every item in this set would have had this symbol. We can not fully make out this initial 100% correctly. We have another listing on our web site for a Green Fitzhugh Plate with the American Eagle in the center of the plate, which appears to have the initial A.C. That listing has quite a bit of information which are excerpts from a article that states among other things that Thomas Fitzhugh was a Director of the British East India Company and spent considerable time in Canton, in China between 1787-1800. He had ordered a dinner service in this pattern that now bears his name, and dates Circa 1790.   « Less

Circa 1840 Chinese Export Sacred Bird and Butterfly Orange Rare Teapot in Excellent Condition and Very Good Quality. This unusual size "SWEET TEAPOT" is 4" in height and measures 6" from the top f the double strapped handle to the tip of the spout, On the top of the lid is a cute gilded finial. The double strapped handles are attached with artistic splotching to the teapot. Teapots are rare in this pattern. About 10 years ago I purchased a 200 piece set of this pattern in Maine that was fabulous and had every form you could imagine and not even one single teapot. This nice dimunitive teapot is really a great size and so sweet. This would make a nice addition to any chinese export collector or even a teapot collector. No Restoration.   « Less

Circa 1820 Chinese Export Rose Mandarin Luncheon Plate measuring 7 3/4". This mandarin plate has had minor restoration and their are a few losses to the apparel of the attendants. This is a great plate, wonderful quality and very decorative. It has the mandarin quality which is always the best. The border has butterfliues, birds and plenty of greenery and rose flowers. Circa 1840 if not earlier of a Chinese Export Very Unusual Rose Medallion Dinner Plate measuring 9 5/8" in diameter. This is a very nice quality rose medallion and very unusual im several aspects. It has the usual alternating panels of people (ladies) in a court scene flanked by a cartouche of butterflies with a famille rose and greenery. Overall this plate is decorated very nicely especially with the butterflies, birds and beetles. In the middle is a center medallion in a nice gold cartouche with two roosters and butterflies. This plate is in very good condition. There is a lot of gold on this plate in many locations. Starting on the rim and also on the four pathways to the center of the plate. The center medallion is encrusted with a solid gold border. .   « Less

Circa 1840 Chinese Export Very Unusual Rose Medallion Dinner Plate measuring 9 5/8" in diameter. This is a very nice quality rose medallion and very unusual in many aspects. It has the usual alternating panels of people (ladies) in a court scene flanked by a cartouche of butterflies with a rose and greenery. Also in the two cartouches with no people their is the illusive beetle. Beetles are unusually rare in these scenes of large plates. Overall this plate is decorated very nicely especially with the butterflies and beetles. In the middle is a center medallion in a nice gold cartouche with a bird, maybe a parrot perched on what appears to be a branch of flowers or fruit. This plate is in Very Good Condition with only feeling one minor frit on the edging of the plate. There is a lot of gold in this plate. Starting on the rim and also on the four pathways to the center of the plate. The center is encrusted in a gold border.   « Less

Circa 1820 Chinese Export Rose Mandarin Helmut Creamer with old restoration at the handle. The restoration as you can see is the old way of restoring porcelain and in no way detracts from the beauty or the value. I might add as pieces of chinese export porcelain with the great quality like this piece with the old restoration is a very sought after item. The quality is just absolutely the best you will find anywhere. The images tell the story. This is one of the smallest examples of this form that I have seen. It measures 2 5/8" in height from the base to the spout and 5" from the spout to the top of the handle. Famille roses painted around the top are of very good quality and this piece has continuous scenes completely around 360 degrees of this creamer. The colors are Fantastic. Bright green,pink,purple gold, light and dark blue. The restoration is a piece of beauty on this piece as it shows the restoration of the 18th century and not the restoration of today's modern technology which is completely hidden. This form is also referred to as "hog snout" referring to the spout that resembles a Hog's Snout--I guess!!   « Less

Circa 1850 Chinese Export Rose Medallion six-sided Octagonal Shaped Cache Pot without the underplate. We presently have another one of these on our web site with the other one having the correct underplate. This one is a nice quality and is in good condition. No Restoration. 6" in height and 8 1/4" in diameter at the top. The top opening is 6 5/8". The bottom measurement needed to match up a underplate is 6 1/4" X 7 1/2". These last measurements are the ones needed to find a perfect six-sided underplate. Some gilding loss on the outside of the top rim. The panels with the ladies in the courtyard are in good condition and the other panels are nicely decorated with each having the same decoration of a very multi colorful bird in flight and a colorful yellow and black butterfly.   « Less

The only real reference book on "chinese export porcelain" was written by Herbert Schiffer a well known chinese exporet dealer from Pennsylvania who has since died. On pages 110 and 111 of his book Schiffer has examples of Cache Pots and #307 is the example that is the same as this piece.   « Less

Circa 1840 Chinese Export Rose Medallion 6-Sided Octagon Shaped Cache-Pot with the original underplate. The Cache Pot is 7" in height and 9 3/4" in width at the top. The inside dimension at that top opening is 8". The bottom diameter of the cache pot is 7 1/4" at the widest point and the outside dimension of the underplate is 9 5/8" and the inside dimension of the underplate is 7 3/4". Cache Pots with Original underplates are almost impossible to find. no chips, cracks or any damage, just evidence that the inside has had a lot of dirt and flowers and orchids rubbing against it. The only real reference book on "Chinese Export Porcelain" was written by Herbert Schiffer a known chinese export dealer who has since died. On pages 110 and 111, Schiffer has examples of Cache Pots and #307 is the example that is the same of this piece.   « Less
