Antique ceramic vase with handpainted and gilded chicken / rooster, spider and web and 3-dimentional openwork foliage and berries. Made in Austria by RSTK, circa 1899 - 1900 More »
Antique ceramic vase with handpainted and gilded chicken / rooster, spider and web and 3-dimentional openwork foliage and berries. Made in Austria by RSTK, circa 1899 - 1900 and almost certainly designed by Paul Dachsel. Measures 7 inches tall. Baluster shaped vase with elongated neck. 3 wings / handles float out from the surface of the vase. The neck consists of beautifully modelled openwork, overlapping foliage and berries, one of the specialities of Paul Dachsel and RSTK. They are entirely gilded with very subtle handpainted gold detail. Their execution is quite outstanding. THe body has two wonderful vignettes hand painted and gilded in raised gold and an interesting choice of palette. On one side is a Rooster stalking through the grass. In the background are tall bushes and trees, some hinted at in pale purple, others very richly highlighted in raised gilding. The chicken is wonderfully portrayed in red, green and gold, with exotic tail feathers and tough stance. His open beak and strength of claws along with the arrogant strut, make it clear that this is not a bird to be taken lightly. Another section of the vase, with a lot of creamy ground showing, has a number of highly defined, raised flowers amongst which is a very finely painted spider''s web and nestling under one of the flying arms, a black and gold spider. The bottom of the vase has a peach and gold Art Nouveau pattern. THe vase has the burnt orange RSTK logo that dates to 1899-1900. Impressed 530 AUSTRIA and 13. Good condition. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3777 Condition: good Year: 1895 Title: ANTIQUE RSTK AMPHORA VASE W ROOSTER SPIDER WEB DACHSEL « Less

Antique Art Deco pottery vase in the Golden Leaves, # 4921 pattern. Designed by Charlotte Rhead for Crown Ducal, England, 1930''s. 5 3/4 inches high. Art Deco modelled More »
Antique Art Deco pottery vase in the Golden Leaves, # 4921 pattern. Designed by Charlotte Rhead for Crown Ducal, England, 1930''s. 5 3/4 inches high. Art Deco modelled shape with different widths and steps, reminiscent of the skyskraper design of the era. Additional interest is from the unusual handles - each consisting of a series of loops and attached at different heights to the body of the vase. The body has a mottled creamy orange ground and is tube lined in lustrous steel grey. Rim and handles as well as some leaves are painted in a metallic soft gold, which is highly unusual and attractive. The pattern, which forms an almost continuous frieze around the vase, is Golden Leaves, #4921, which features bright orange flowers and foliage. Marked underneath: blue Crown Ducal backstam with crown over Crown Ducal Made in England; embossed 211. in a rectangle; handwritten 4921, which is the pattern number of Golden Leaves and Rhead with the R underlined and an F underneath it. At least two circles impressed into the body are probably the result of supports of the vase in the kiln. A sticker from the previous owner has been left under the vase (the vase was part of an impressive glass and pottery collection). Condition is very good: no chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any sort to be found. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3655 Condition: good Year: 1945 Title: ANTIQUE CHARLOTTE RHEAD CROWN DUCAL POTTERY DECO VASE « Less

Antique porcelain pate sur pate urn vase. Made in Lichte Germany, 1890 - early 20th century by GEBRUDER HEUBACH. Measures approx 7 inches tall. Baluster shape with narrow neck and two flaring handles, almost like buttresses on a French Gothic building. Most of the ground is turquoise blue green with gilded foliage, berries and scrolls as well as gold rims. The front has a large pink (with soft grey overtones) oval reserve, outlined in gold, containing a marvellous pate sur pate vignette of a fairy sitting on a flowered, rocky outcrop, holding a large boquet of flowers in one hand. The detail is excellent and workmanship comparable to Sevres, Meissen or Mintons pate sur pate at their finest. Marked underneath with partly worn Gebruder Heubach mark and a double circle with Made IN Germany written in it. Very good condition. No chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any sort. Antique / vintage early Charlotte Rhead unusual mushroom shaped vase in the Arabesque pattern. Made by Wood''s, England. Measures approx 2 1/4 inches high and 6 1/4 inches in diameter. Highly unusual mushroom shape with a large well in the center. The vase sits directly on the neck, which forms the stalk of the mushroom and is hollowed out to form the well of the vase. The top curves gently downwards and is beautifully decorated with tubelined open flowers and buds in pinks, purples, blues with scrolling foliage in different shades of green. Background colour is a mottled oatmeal (cream and grey). A yellow band rings the inside of the well and the outer rim. The whole design is very finely tubelined in warm brown.
