Stunning antique three-light cast bronze chandelier dating from the 19th century and found in a church in Italy. This light fixture begins with a foliate bordered canopy, which extends down in three decorative chains to support the urn-shaped body. Three lights crown the fixture, the surface of which is intricately ornamented with stylized pineapples, foliates, berries and volutes. The fixture finishes in a simple ring finial. This light fixture is in very good antique condition with a beautifully aged finish. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures approximately 14-1/8" wide and 52" tall. This Lenci Deco Nude with purple hair and purple cactus is 13-1/4" high. Notice that there is a pale yellow flower on the cactus. vI believe that the armless state of the figurine is a reference to the Venus de Milo. The mark on the bottom includes the initials of the artist LR, whom I have not yet identified. I believe that this is a rare figure, since I have not come across any other examples in my research. This piece comes out of a long time collection and is in excellent condition, no dings, cracks, crazing, flea bites or other damage. She dates to about the 1930's, the height of the Art Deco period.   « Less

This antique French miniature portrait of the Duc de Berry in a bronze frame is 7-1/4" high, 5-1/4" wide. The finely and sensitively hand painted portrait is 3-3/8" high by 2-3/8" wide. Every delicate brushstroke is visible under magnification. There is a signature at the lower left which I could not read. The portrait is surrounded by a narrow band of leaves in bronze, surrounded by an oval panel of wood, bordered with the bronze frame topped with a wreath of olive branches. There is a bronze panel on the back with one little screw missing on the left. I have not polished the bronze frame. Opening the back panel reveals a soft skin backing on the miniature, inscribed Duc de Berry 13. Perhaps the 13 refers to the year 1813. This is a rarely seen image. The title Duke of Berry has been bestowed upon relatives of the French monarchy. Charles, Count of Artois, Duke of Berry (1757–1836), younger brother of Louis XVI, was given the duchy of Berry in 1776. He became Charles X, King of France in 1824. His second son Charles Ferdinand, Duke of Berry (1778–1820) was known by the courtesy title of Duke of Berry from his birth in 1778 to his assassination in 1820. Perhaps the portrait is that of the soon to be Charles X.   « Less

This is an antique 14K yellow gold necklace chain with a fish clasp, 47" long. It weighs 42.4 g or 27.3 dwt. In typical antique fashion, there are no marks, but I have tested it and guarantee that it is 14K. The chain consists of interlocking textured round links that alternate with four sided bars 1" long that are pierced with stars. The piece de resistance is the clasp in the form of the head of a fish with emerald eyes, 7/8" long. The chain can be doubled up or worn as one long, elegant chain. I am guessing that the necklace dates to about 1890 or so, and that it is American or English. The condition is excellent. I think that this antique chain is quietly sensational.   « Less
