Made by the Belleek factory in Ireland, this vase bears the 2nd black mark used from 1891 to 1926. Measures: 3 1/2'' high and 4 1/8'' from side to side. Superbly modelled, classic Belleek vase. Very organic in form. Deeply scalloped edges , twisting folds and modelled ripples on the surface. The outside is further decorated with a plethora of encrusted flowers, each miniscully detailed and fragile. While the flowers on the front are roses (in full bloom and in bud), the back has 3 simple Irish clovers. Mark: 2nd black mark for Belleek - says Fermanagh, Ireland. condition: I could not find a single chip or crack. There is a yellow mark inside the piece, but it appears to be original to the firing and is not a flaw. Status: For Sale Reference#: 450 Condition: See Description Year: See Description « Less

Very rare and exceptional pair of pastille burners made in England in the Coalbrookdale factories, c 1830. While this kind of piece is very difficult to find, a pair is very unusual. Measurements: 8'' high; 5 1/2'' diameter. The base is like a cup with an attached saucer and the lid is in the form of an elongated bell with a long turret of encrusted flowers on top. The holes for the smoke to emerge are hidden amongst this rich encrustation of applied flowers. The entire surface of the bowl, cup and lid is covered with tiny flowers, probably in imitation of Meissen''s SNOWBALL / SNEEUBALLEN. They are light turquoise and white with yellow centers. There are a number of applied modelled flowers, stems and leaves covering this layer as well. The rims of top and bottom have a rich gold border. There are no marks on this piece as was normal in England at that time. Condition:excellent condition. For such very fine detail, they are in fantastic shape: the small encrusted flowers (snowballs) are almost entirely intact, with one or two very minor chips (and you really have to search for them) and the larger applied flowers have the usual, minor losses. Otherwise, there are no chips/cracks to the porcelain and the gilding is also in great shape - not worn at all. Dating to the very early days of Minton, 1820''s - 30''s, named landscape and magnificent floral painting on a globe bone china POT POURRI. It was probably the work of artist John Beard. Measurements: 6 1/2'' high; 11'' from end to end. Globe shaped. Surface is decorated with richly coloured, modelled applied flowers. These floral encrusted pieces were done in the Dresden style and Minton also copied the Meissen mark of crossed swords. However, the models are well-documented as being Minton (this is shape 19 in the pattern book). One side of the piece has a truly magnificent floral painting covering it''s surface and the other shows a landscape with a rich waterfall and small people standing on a rocky outcrop below. The scene is inscribed in handwritten script below as LYDFORD CASCADE. Green twist handles extend to well over the sides of the piece, tendrils ending in a variety of modelled flowers. Marks:Underneath is the imitation Meissen / Dresden mark, known to be used by Minton at that period for these very special pieces. The bottom of the piece, below the landscape is inscribed ''Lydford Cascade'' in purple script. Condition: for it''s age and delicacy, the piece is in very good condition. There are the expected chips to the encrusted flowers, but paint and gilding are in excellent shape. Status: For Sale Reference#: 335 Condition: See Description Year: See Description « Less
