Victorian walnut and birdseye maple hanging mirror c1870. This antique American Victorian mirror was made from solid black walnut with inset a insert of birdseye maple that is carved with a grape leaf design and a gold leafed interior frame. There frame is inset with a banded ebonized molding. The frame measures 3 inches thick by 5 inches wide. The over all measurements are 49 and one quarter inches by 42 and one half inches Pristine original condition. A delightful example of the finely honed use of humor in Japanese Art as described so well in the book Playfulness in Japanese Art by Nobuo Tsuji, Spencer Museum of Art, 1986. This small bronze box is molded in a woven basket look with low relief figures of mice in human clothing on the top lid. Two smaller mice on the left are seen approaching two much larger mice on the right side of the lid the details in each is quite remarkable. The box measures 3 and one third inches long by 1 and one half inches wide and is three eighths inches deep. Excellent condition and patina. We date this one to the late Meiji period, circa 1885 to 1910   « Less

Early copper storage container with double handles c1700 to 1780. This unique early copper bucket or container was put together with hand made dovetails. There is a top, lower and bottom section all dovetailed together. Five pieces in all. One old repair to one handle which we show in one of the pictures we provided. This is an excellent piece of early copper in a rich old reddish bronze copper color patina. Measures 9 inches high and 12 and one half inches wide handle to handle.
