Early 20TH Century Majolica Planter with Elephant Motif. Very unusual and a conversation piece to say the least. Measures 8" in height and the top opening is 10" in diameter. This jardineer/cache pot will hold your favorite plant or flowers and is a definite conversation piece. This piece of Majolica Pottery dates to the Early 20th Century and the outside of this piece is surrounded by three Elephant Heads with the elephant's trunk on each supporting the planter and acting as the legs to this very unusual piece. Between each elephant are green etruscan that are formed under the base and the leaves sprouting to each elephant trunk. We are showing a total of nine images so you can see this planter's configuration. This has been used as a planter for many years as you can see the earthly stain to the inside of the pot. Circa 1850-1875 Japanese Meiji Period Mixed Metal Vase measuring 17 1/2" in height. The texture of this vase is just like the trunk of a tree and this is actually called the Tree Bark Pattern and Design. I have been told this is Japanese Lacquer on top of Satsuma. The Cloisonne along with the mixed metals have been applied to is probably pottery, earthenware or porcelain. Cloisonne design of flowers, butterflies, birds are inlaid into the lacquering. It appears to be a hammered black rippled body embossed with a central tree bearing bark and orange flowers maybe mums with a black and orange bird (Oriole) nestled in between. JUST A REAL BLACK BEAUTY. I have been told that this pattern is very rarely seen and not too many people are knowledgeable(Including Myself)in regards to this piece. The minute I looked at it,I knew it was something that was quite unusual and a process that I had never seen. I feel that I have Priced it at a Very Reasonable Price. « Less

Circa 1720-1740 Chinese Export Armorial 9" Plate. Mamout Elephant. Sopra di Bianco. Made for the Indian Market. Very unusual market plate that we have not seen before. More »
Circa 1720-1740 Chinese Export Armorial 9" Plate. Mamout Elephant. Sopra di Bianco. Made for the Indian Market. Very unusual market plate that we have not seen before. Fresh out of a New York Manhattan Estate filled with armorial plates. This item is 1 1/2" in depth and probably a shallow soup plate. The plate is in very good condition for it's age. The Mamout Elephant has very little wear considering it's age. Bright colors on rider on camel back. Some fritting on edges of plate and two minor nicks with one having a earlier repair. This plate is a excellent addition to advanced collector's collection. Extremely Rare. « Less

Circa 1820-1840 Chinese Export Blue Canton Cider Jug with cover. Cider Jugs in blue canton and especially in rose medallion and rose mandarin are very rare. This is one that we recently purchased out of a Estate in the Washington, D.C. Area. This one measures 6 1/2" to the highest point of the handle and 7 1/2" to the top of the foo dog finial mounted on the top of the cover. All cider jugs have a inner pierced strainer behind the spout and were possibly made for hot punch or mulled cider with the spices and lemon seeds filtered by the strainer. These cider jugs can not be poured without holding the lid to prevent it from falling off. The foo dog finial and twisted handle of this cider jug exemplify early, good quality details. Cider jugs like this one date from the late 18th to early 19th century. This cider jug is in Excellent Condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. We also have a Blue Canton Very Large Pitcher/Jug coming in from the same estate. Should be in our inventory by January 1, 2010 and even might be here for Christmas. « Less
