Beautiful antique bronze sculpture depicting a seated nude lady with an amphora bottle giving birds a drink. The bronze is inscribed Math. Moreau (Mathurin Moreau 1822-1912). The bronze is also inscribed MEDAILLE D'HONNEUR. The bronze sits on its original variegated marble base that conforms to the bronze base of the sculpture. The marble base has a gilt bronze under plate. This is one of Moreau's best sculptures winning a Medal of Honor. The bronze measures 26 inches high to the top of her head. Widest width at base 11 inches. Depth 9-1/2 inches. Widest width of the sculpture from the bird's wing to the lady's leg is 11 inches. Weight 67 lbs. Exquisite antique French bronze sculpture of a beautiful nude lady with birds on her forearm and near her feet. This is an exquisite sculpture artist signed F. Charpentier and also marked E. COLIN PARIS. This is an extremely rare model. In my more than 45 years collecting antique bronzes this is the first one I have seen. She is on her original polished variegated onyx base. The onyx base has 3 levels of beveling. The bronze and original base are in excellent condition . She measures a little more than 15 inches to the top of her right hand. Diameter at base 5-3/4 inches. The bronze measures 13-1/2 inches high not including the base she is attached to. Weigh 10.5 lbs. The bronze has a lovely medium to light honey chocolate brown patina and is in excellent condition. Superb 19th century antique bronze sculpture of a nude lady with an owl depicting night. This model was also made depicting day. The one depicting night has an owl at the base and a star at the top. The sculpture portrays a beautiful nude lady with long flowing hair holding a shawl in her hand tied loosely around her waist. She seems to be in flight floating in the sky above the owl. This is the most beautiful rendition of night in a sculptured bronze you might ever hope to find. It is not signed anywhere that we can see. However the quality far surpasses the most bronzes signed or not. The bronze measures 13-1/4 inches to the top of the star on its rouge marble base. Not including the base she measures 10-1/2 inches to the top of her star. From her toe to her elbow she measures 8-1/2 inches. Handsome nude male snake charmer seated and playing a flute while holding the snake, gazing at it and watching it move. The sculpture has a beautiful chocolate brown patina signed Thabard. Thabard ( Adolphe Martial Thabard, important French listed sculptor 1831-1905 ) Thabard studied under Duret one of the finest sculptors and teachers of the 19th century. Thabard exhibited at the Paris Salons from 1863 winning medals in 1863,1868,1872 including the silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. He became a Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur in 1884. The subjects that Thabard sculptured were usually male nudes of large size this one being no exception. The figure is seated yet measures 25 inches tall. If he were standing this would be a 40 inch sculpture. From the back of the robe he is seated on to the front of his toe he measures 19 inches. Widest width 9-1/2 inches. The man's face is beautifully sculptured. He has long hair and wears a wreath of grape leaves. The detail, composition, and quality of this sculpture are unsurpassed. Edouard Drouot 1859-1945 this sculptor was famous for his beautiful female nude sculptures and allegorical subjects. He made this model in two sizes this is the largest model. Height 30-1/4 inches. Height not including the original marble base 28-1/2 inches. Diameter at base 8 inches. Weight 48.25 lbs. There is a bronze plaque on the front of the base inscribed Muse Des Bois par Drouot.
