This very rare Steinway Imperial Square Grand Piano was custom built on November 20, 1866 for Edward Dous, a wealthy merchant living in Hamburg in what was then the North German Confederation (1866-1871). The piano has a Rosewood finish, semi-gloss black case, ornate hand carved legs and measures 1 square x 68 inches. It has 85 keys which were last tuned in January 2008. Included is a built in humidifier to maintain the internal temperature of the piano dry and cool. The soundboard and bridges are in excellent condition. This design, with a full iron frame, is probably the most powerful type of square piano ever built. When the lid is raised, the sound is reflected directly at the player, further enhancing the power of the instrument. This piano was appraised by the nationally syndicated antique columnist, Anne Gilbert, at $7,000.00. The last appraisal was in September 2011 valued at $5,000.00. All documentation included. This Imperial Square Grand piano is an extremely rare collector’s item, excellent for anyone who wishes to create a mid to late 19th century feel for their home or place of business. Tickle the Ivories with this fantastic antique Country Victorian Ludwig & Co upright piano made in 1909 of beautiful tiger oak. It has been in the family for more than 25 years. The condition of this piano is astonishing! There are only 2 very small pieces of the molding that are missing which is hard to detect without a thorough examination. We are selling this 102 year old piano for so little simply because I am clearing the house of old ghosts. It has not been restored since it has been in our possession but it sounds great even without the restoration to factory standards and could simply use a tuning. No need to spend all that money if you don't want to. It will make a great heirloom piece or addition to a church. It has all of its strings, hammers, and other internal parts.
