Very early jeweled cobalt blue and gold porcelaine perfume / scent bottle with handpainted bird & flowers. English, possibly early Derby, 18th to early 19th century. Measures approx 2 5/8inches high. Round foot with squat round body. Cobalt blue ground with delicate gold patterns. A reserve front and back, outlined in gold scrolls with superbly handpainted vignettes - one of a multi-coloured bird pecking at a branch, a small insect adding intrigueing interest. The other reserve floral with roses, morning glory, dahlias and other tiny red blossoms. Very beautiful detail. Long, cylindrical neck with 2 rows of raised jewels. Matching lid with gold star on top. The part of the lid that fits inside the bottle was cracked and poorly mended (see ''photos). Otherwise, condition is very good. 19th century, French, Sevres or Limoges handpainted plate with a still life of fish, flowers and fruit. 8 7/8inches in diam. Gently scalloped border with gilt rim. Band of chocolate brown along the border with sprays of flowers - each masterfully painted. Pink, blue, yellow and green, very fine detail. The center of the plate has a fabulous still life featuring all the ingredients for a gourmet elegant meal: two fish, a leafy cabbage/lettuce, lemons, parsely, chestnuts and strawberries in the background. Everything needed to make a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful painting. Simply doesn''t get better than this. No known marked. A painted 5 underglaze and impressed mark. Handpainted enamel metal mounted porcelain perfume / scent bottle chatelaine with chain and finger ring. Portrait of a child shepherd in flower / garden setting. Made in England, early 19th century. Measures a little under 3 1/4inches in height. Diameter is approx 2 1/4inches. Outstanding handpainted enamel: birds in a woody landscape, surrounded by beautiful roses / carnations and foliage. Long-tailed and fantastically plumed and coloured exotic birds. The other side has a young shepherd boy, possibly a religious figure or a child in heaven, depicted floating on clouds and praying. Red glass insert with mechanical cover, engraved ''Ortner & houle St James Street, London. Set in gold-coloured metal with chain and finger ring. No hallmarks. Condition is good. On the left hand, near the roses, if you look very closely, you will see a negligible flaw where the porcelain is held by the metal. Outstanding Rookwood vase in Vellum glaze with signed handpainted landscape by Edward Diers. 7 1/4inches high. Ovoid body painted in blues, oranges, yellows , greys and green with an outstanding landscape fully surrounding the vase. The soft effect belies the very fine detail, shown magnified in some of the photographs. Tall trees in some areas, fields with bushes in others, the sky a magnificent contrast to the smoky vegetation. Marked underneath with engraved Rookwood mark XXIII (1923); 917D being the shape and size, which Ms Ellis suggest indicates a new shape (page 217); V for Vellum and artist''s initials ED. Condition is superb: no chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any sort and no crazing to be seen even with a magnifying glass. Outstanding Royal Vienna cabinet vase with artist signed miniature portrait of Hebe, Greek goddess of youth, daughter of Zeus and Hera. Made late 19th century.Measures just under 4inches high.Green base is largely covered with moulded and raised gilding Raised flowers, a fine and delicate gold curtain and gilded jewels. Exquisite workmanship.The neck flares to form a floriform, naturalistic rim, also richly gilded with a delicate pattern on the inside. A heart-shaped reserve on the front has a handpainted portrait of the young and beautiful Greek goddes Hebe. The artist''s signature is on the right, PRELL.Underneath the vase has the blue underglaze mark for Royal Vienna, the name Hebe in black script and Germany.COndition is MINT. No damage of any sort. Herend porcelain centerpiece / compote, made in Hungary 20th century.Measures 6 1/4inches high.Inverted bowl shaped base, gilded knopf and gilded rims to upper scalloped and lower wavy rims.Margins in moulded basketweave and gently swirling folds emanate from the start of the slopes.Surface is handpainted with sprigs of colourful flowers and foliage and a large floral group decorates the center.Underneath is the Herend blue shield mark, various numbers and initials (probably those of the artist) S.G.Condition is excellent - no chips/cracks/losses/wear of any sort. Saucer is 5 5/8inches accross.Cup is 2 1/4inches high.Pale lavendar background with a pattern of handpainted Palm trees and medallions encircling brightly coloured parrots. Fabulous painting and colours. Influence of China and Japan can be seen in the small plants under the Palms, while the Palms and parrots were both considered representative of the newly discovered Egyption antiquities by the French during Napoleon''s reign.Gold borders.There is some wear to the gilding, commensurate with the age, but there is no damage of any sort. Pair of matte art pottery vases with Art Nouveau pierced gilt metal overlay. Made in France late 19th - early 20th century.Each vase measures 5 inches tall.Beautiful mottled colouring is not identical in the vases. One has shades of blue and green while the other is green and brown/yellow. Inside the former is deep sea blue with a mottled mustard/brown, while the other vase inside is a pearly combination ranging from cream to green. Tubular shape widening to a knop and ring-like handles on either side. The entire upper portion of both vases has a wonderful gilt metal openwork overlay, joining seamlessly with the richly gilded handles. There is some dirt on the gilding of one of the vases, but otherwise excellent condition. There is a raised 43 underneath each vase, but no factory name.No chips/cracks.
