A set of four chairs in solid elm and brown leather. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) is born in a family of craftmen. After his regular studies, he worked for some time in the workshop of a navy carpenter. He was graduated architect in 1958 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, after having travelled in the United States and in Europe. He opened his own workshop first in Clamart as well as a shop in Paris. His work was inspired by Charlotte Perriand. Ten years later he settled down in Gordes, where he based the Société Chapo. He then dedicated himself mainly to his work as a carpenter and a cabinetmaker and gave a serie of lectures about his great passion, wood. Very good condition. Design Period, Circa: 1960. Dim: W: 17,3 in - D: 17,3in - H: 30,7in. / Un ensemble de quatre chaises en orme massif et assise en cuir fauve. Le montage et le travail d'ébènisterie est de très grande qualité. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) né dans une famille d'artisans, fait ses études au lycée de Romainville, puis à Vierzon entre 1937 et 1947. Il travaille pendant quelque temps dans l'atelier d'un charpentier de marine, puis entame des études d'architecte à l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Il sera diplômé en 1958, ayant souvent interrompu le cours de ses études pour voyager aux Etats-Unis et en Europe. Il ouvre alors un atelier à Clamart ainsi qu'un magasin à Paris, boulevard de l'Hôpital. Il s'est beaucoup inspiré du travail de Charlotte Perriand. Dix ans plus tard il acquiert une maison à Gordes où il installe le siège de la Société Chapo S.A.. Il se consacre alors essentiellement à la menuiserie et à l'ébénisterie tout en donnant des conférences sur sa grande passion, le bois.   « Less

Six 3 legged chairs designed by Hans Olsen in 1952. These chairs are from « the compact dining set ». Hans Olsen is known for the concept Danish design and has influenced the Danish furniture industry´s export success in the 1960s. Manufacturer: Frem Rojle, Denmark. The structure is in solid Teak and upholstered in black vinyl leather. The chairs are in a very good vintage condition. There is very few slight marking to the teak frames. The vinyl seat covers are in nice condition with no rips, stains nor holes. The chairs are burn stamped with Frem Rojle underneath. Very good condition. Design Period, Circa: 1960. A Warren Platner (1919) high-back lounge chair structured with steel wire frames waisted to shape the base and a fiberglass shell, reupholstered in red wool cotton fabric. Manufactured by Knoll, 1966. This model is not edited anymore. Warren Platner (1919-) graduated from the Cornell University School of Architecture in 1941. Following his work with legendary designers Raymond Loewy, Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei, he immersed himself in the creation of steel wire furniture. Notable among his residential and commercial projects are the Georg Jensen Design Centre and the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Centre, both in New York City. Very good condition. XX° Period, Circa: 1966. This is a decorative pair of side chairs made from solid oak during the second half of the 19th century. Each with heavily sculpted pierced carved seatback standing upon serpentine shaped gadrooned seat, supported by adorably turned legs. Note minor scratches and dents here and there due to the age. This is a very cute Prayer Chair made from solid beech wood by the end of the reign of Napoleon III. This adorable piece is representing the Easter Cross as its was depicted in Europe with the black Cross mounted with drape and the tools used to torture and kill Christ. Such representation is very common especially in France and Italy. Note that the fabric must be replaced and that a small part of the spear is missing. Circa date 1870. Here is an extremely comfortable pair of armchairs made from solid walnut by the middle part of the 20th century. This impressively massive pair is covered by floral upholstery trimmed by large brass nails and featured a boldly sculpted pair of acanthus shaped armrests flanking the large seat, all supported by a sturdy pediment with barley twisted stretchers that insure stability and sturdiness.
