Antique set of 6 cut enameled and gilded wine glass goblets. Made by Fritz Heckert in Bohemia (now Czech Republic) 1895. Each glass is 7 3/4 inches tall. Curved, round base with engraved and gilded and blue enamelled simple patterns. The stem is in the old German drinking glass tradition with knops and applied prunkts in the form of flowers. Concentric ridged rings in graduated sizes and inverted cones make the clear necks fascinating in themselves and the complex form results in a perpetual play of light on the glass. The bowls of the goblets are outstanding examples of classic Fritz Heckert glass-making technique, combining staining, cut glass, enamel, gilding and wonderful design. Heart pattern with tiny flowers. Colours are yellow and green against a red ground with blue borders on top and bottom and a white enamel pattern going around the circumference. The whole is very richly gilded. Like most Bohemian glass, there are no factory marks, but there is no doubt that these glasses are from the Fritz Heckert factory (guarranteed). Condition is amazingly good. One glass has a minute spot on the underneath rim, shown highly magnified in the ''photos, merely to be sticklers for detail, but in fact less than negligible and original to the manufacture. Vintage 925 silver match box cover for Sabbath. Made circa 1948-1960, very likely in Israel. Weighs 23grams. Standard matchbox size - 2inches long X 1 1/2 inches wide X a little over 5/8 inches high. Rectangular shape with a raised wishbone-foliage border. Scrolling shaped reserve with repousse flowers and foliage - great detail. An arc of Hebrew letters reads : Lichvod Shabat Kodesh (For the Holy Sabbath). Engraved mark 925 on the side. Very good condition. Came from the home of some old Judaica from the beginning of the State of Israel c 1948. Antique ceramic cigar or jewellery box, sarcophagus, with Biblical figural scenes. Made in Italy. Believed to date to early 1900''s (1900 - 1930). From an extremely prestigious estate: William Nelson Camp, owner of Florida Power, vast real estate and phosphate mines and good friend of the richest of the rich and powerful. Measures 7 1/2 inches accross box and 7 3/4 inches long including the extended base. 4 1/2 inches wide (front to back) and 5 1/8 inches front to back including the extended base. Approx 5 inches high, including the finial. Heavy ceramic with moulded decoration. Rectangular shape. Lid with shaped finial. Moulded decoration with strong Bible themes: One side (front) is a scene depicting the Garden of Eden with a Human (Adam) in the center and a variety of animals and trees around him. The opposite side shows a figure on a raised dais / throne and a number of other people and animals below. I think this is King Solomon at his court. One of the sides shows another scene with human and animals and a variety of trees. The 4th side shows a number of ships. The buildings in the background of the other scenes, like the ships, don''t quite fit into the Bibilical theme, but we can put them down to Artistic License. The lid, with a variety of floral and foliate moulded decoration, also features angels and birds flitting around what might be a Holy image. The 4 immitation pillars on the rounded corners add to the feel of a sarcophagus. The inside has been gilded and the lid is rough, as though intended to be used to strike matches, which may confirm it''s use as a tobacco humidor. No identifying factory marks. Very good condition. Antique Georgian snuff box with hand painted miniature portrait painting of a gentleman. Origin unknown. Date: circa 1770. Round box is just under 3 inches in diameter and just over 1 inch high. Old shell box with beautiful mottling and blond raised rim to lid. Condition of box is good, especially considering the age. Lid is less than perfect with a small open slit where a segment of the side has cracked and been reattached in an antique repair. The blond rim also has a gap caused by natural shrinkage. The lid of the box has an exceptional handpainted miniature portrait of a gentleman. He appears to be middle-aged, which could be the effect of a high forehead and grey wig, indicating a respectable status and intelligence. The face is superbly painted with the fleshy cheeks and jowels, highly individual features shown in museum quality brushwork. The tilt of the head, slightly sideways and penetrating, direct stare, as well as the slightly open mouth - as though withholding a thought just formed from the observer make this an unusually personal depiction. A collarless brown jacket with buttons over a blue vest and white cravat convey a further solidity to the sitter. The miniature is further unusual in that it covers the whole lid. Antique Art Nouveau era inkwell and tray made of different forms of bronze metal and sculpted with a dragonfly and a goldfish in a swirling pond amidst waterlilies and water foliage. Made late 19th century and is either Japanese or French done in the Japanese style. Generally round form approx 7 inches accross and a little over 3 1/2 inches high. The inkwell sits inside a hinged water lily, it''s stem and buds arching and twining around a a swirling eddy, bordered by foliage and waterplant life. Amidst the bowl / tray, as though popping out of the water, is a beautifully detailed deep copper coloured goldfish and buzzing above it, a small dragonfly. It would be typical of Japanese superior workmanship and quality to have a semi-hidden insect. Condition is generally very good except for a chip in the glass insert of the inkwell. Set of 12 Venetian / Murano art glasses in bright red enameled and gilded glass with clear twisted foot. Made Murano near Venice, mid 20th century - approx 1950. Height a tad under 5inches. Diameter of rim 3 7/8inches. Each ovoid bowl enamelled with a shaped c-scroll cartouche containing a heavenly body - cherub or winged angelic women, many playing instruments, all at different tasks. Each enamel scene is unique and different from the others. Flanked by gold scrolling, trellises and swags and flowers with a pair of gold cherubs on either side. Small gold masks on the sides of each glass. Enamel flower sprays and garlands above and below each cartouche and mask.Spiral, twisting clear glass foot.Excellent condition.
