The beginnings of glass making in Ireland are lost in the mists of time but there is sufficient archaeological evidence to show that, from the early Iron Age, glass was More »
The beginnings of glass making in Ireland are lost in the mists of time but there is sufficient archaeological evidence to show that, from the early Iron Age, glass was regarded with respect. Indeed, medieval documents can prove glass making existed in Ireland back in the middle 13th century
However, the Waterford Crystal story started to blossom in 1783 when two brothers, George and William Penrose, founded their crystal manufacturing business in the busy port of Waterford. They were important developers and the city’s principal exporters. The development, they told the Irish Parliament, cost £10,000 — a great deal of money in the 18th century.
They employed 50 to 70 people, led by a fellow Quaker, John Hill, from Stourbridge in England, and succeeded in producing crystal with a purity of color unmatched in Ireland or England. Merchant ships sailed regularly from the port of Waterford with cargoes of crystal bound for Spain, the West Indies, New York, New England and Newfoundland.
But less than 100 years later the initial company failed due to lack of capital and excessive taxation. In what seems a remarkably short time, Waterford Crystal acquired an unequaled reputation that has transcended the intervening centuries.
Another century passed before the enterprise was revived. In 1947, while Europe was still in ruins after the Second World War, a small glass factory was set up in Waterford just 1½ miles from the site of the original glass factory.
Waterford Crystal today has very strong links with its illustrious predecessor. There is today the same dedication to the purity of color, to the same design inspiration and to the same pursuit of highest quality levels possible. The traditional cutting patterns made famous by the artisans of Waterford became the design basis for the growing product range of the new company.
Waterford Crystal, today, is the leading brand of premium crystal. Its products — superb handcrafted crystal stemware, giftware and lighting ware — are designed and manufactured to the highest standards.
Here we are honored to offer Vintage Waterford Crystal Limited Edition World Glode, closed Edition, made in IRELAND of a closed and retired edition of only 200, 12" tall and 22" in diameter and in great condition. Signed with WATERFORD WITH THE SEAHORSE ONLY. No COA.
There are NO visible damages or repairs, without the original box. This is no longer produced in Ireland OR anywhere else. These from the Master Cutters Works, are becoming very rare on the open market.

For sale is a beautiful piece of Art Glass made by The Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio. The item is a Vase and it is done in Imperial's highly sought after "Heart More »
For sale is a beautiful piece of Art Glass made by The Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio. The item is a Vase and it is done in Imperial's highly sought after "Heart and Vine" Decor. This Decorated Art Glass Vase was part of Imperial's "Freehand" Line of Art Glass. The Vase is a good size as it stands 6" tall and is 6 1/2" in diameter. The mouth or opening is 4" in diameter outside measurement with approximately a 2 1/2" inside opening.
The Vase displays a very beautiful Heart and Vine Decor. The Vines and Hearts are done in a Blue Art Glass. This pattern is set against a background of Cantaloupe colored Iridescent glass. The Hearts all sit in a vertical (north to south) fashion with the Vines running both vertical and horizontal. The neck rises up from the top of the shoulder and ever so gracefully flares outwards. The top lip is accented with a deep Blue fire polished art glass rim. This top lip was executed with perfection. The shape is quite unique as well. I would describe this as a Wide Mouth Squat Tapered Shoulder Vase. The iridescence is brilliant throughout the piece. The deep Orange/Red Fuchsia iridescence along the neck is just outstanding!!
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. There are a few areas on the exterior of the vase that have some scratches and missing iridescence. These are rather minor and I pictured the worst one. This was quite common for this color. My camera is 10X zoom and it appears much larger than it really is. The bottom of the vessel shows normal age wear on the high spots on the bottom. The Vase is signed on the bottom with Imperial's Clover Shaped Paper Label that reads "FREE HAND" on the top with "Made in U.S.A." on the bottom along with the "Imperial Cross" and lettering in the 4 sections of the cross.
This is a Very Nice Decorated Art Glass Vase by Imperial. To find this with its original Paper Label is quite Rare and a real bonus to have on the bottom of this Vase.
Imperial Glass Company tried to lure Steuben Aurene and Tiffany Favrile Glass blowers into their shop with enticing employment offers. Some of these workers migrated to Imperial Glass. Imperial Glass was most noted for their Carnival Glass Production. The Free Hand Line of Art Glass was produced for only 3 years from 1923-1925. These are Glass Vases are some of the rarest and hardest to find because of such a short production span. These are much Rarer to Find than Tiffany, Steuben, Durand and Quezal. All of these companies produced Art Glass for a much longer period with Durand being the closest with only 7 years of producing Art Glass. I'm quite sure the buyer with be quite pleased with their purchase.
This Vase was made Circa 1923-1925. « Less

For sale is a lovely Art Glass Vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called "Papillon" and the form is a pinched or thumbprint Trefoil flower vase. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 5 1/4" tall and has a diameter of 4" at its widest point. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 2 1/8".
The Vase has an outstanding Gold Papillon (Oil Spot) Decoration. The elongated mottles are tightly packed next to each other in a vertical fashion. The iridescence is just outstanding as you can see vivid colors of Golds, Blues, and and some Fuchsia along with Platinum Blue on the bottom side. The vase displays a classic Austrian Shape with a Three Fold Top with the thumbprint indentations perfectly shaped between each fold in the middle of the vase. The vase has kind of a swollen shape with thumbprint indents. The base glass is clear glass with this applied Papillon Decoration.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The opening at the top has a nicely fire polished Trefoil lip. The bottom has a counter sunk polished pontil. This is the sign of a quality piece of Art Glass. The Vase is unsigned as is typical of most Loetz vases. It more than likely had a paper label at one time. There is no doubt that this is Loetz as this decorated pattern technique is a well documented pattern design. The vase is very clean outside and in and it shows minimal signs of use.
This is one of the nicest Gold Papillon Trefoil Vases that I have ever owned. The decoration is brilliant and well defined. I'm quite sure the lucky buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. This vase was made circa 1899-1905 and is considered the early years for Loetz. « Less

For sale is a Beautiful Gold Vase made by The Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company of Maspeth (Queens), Long Island New York. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 1 11/16" tall and has a diameter of 3 1/4"
The Vase displays a very strong Gold Iridescence with strong hues of Fuchsia on the inside and Rich Platinum Blues on the outside. The Vase has a very nice rolled top edge. I have seen this shape with Quezal Vases before and they always had ribbing. This is the first time I have seen this Vase with no Ribbing. Some may refer to this as a Master Salt but I feel it is a Cabinet Vase. Please correct me if I am wrong. When I first saw this piece I thought it was a piece of Steuben Aurene because of the brilliant Gold Iridescence to it.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few minor scratches on the bottom and this is common for its age. This piece has a nice counter sunk polished pontil. The sign of a Quality piece of Art Glass. The Vase is signed on the bottom inside the counter sunk pontil and is marked "Quezal".
Martin Bach Sr. was the founder of Quezal. He worked for L.C.T. Tiffany Studios from 1892-1902. The quality of his glass was as good as Tiffany, Steuben and Loetz. The Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Co was in business from 1902-1924.
Quezal vases Rarely come up in today's market. It appears that the collectors do not want to let these go. I'm quite sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. This Vase was made Circa 1910-1915. « Less

For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass blown by Josef Rindskopf of Bohemia. This is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Item is call a "Twisted Pinched Ribbed Trefoil" More »
For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass blown by Josef Rindskopf of Bohemia. This is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Item is call a "Twisted Pinched Ribbed Trefoil" Vase. The Vase stands 6 3/4" tall. The bottom bulbous area has a diameter of 3 1/4" and the top of the vase is 2 7/8" in diameter.
This Vase is for those who are looking to collect Nice examples of Rindskopf Art Glass. The Base Glass is a Moss Green. The Vase has a Twisted Pinched Form on Three Sides and a Tri-Fold Top. The top has a fire polished rolled edge. This is very Art Nouveau in Style and is typical of a Rindskopf shape. I would consider this a Floriform Shape as well. The Vase has vertical ribbing that rises from the bottom and slightly twists as it rises to the top lip. The exterior of the Glass has beautiful Iridescence to it. You can see beautiful deep Fuchsia's Green and Blues.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is unsigned as is the Case with Rindskopf pieces of Art Glass. They more than likely had a paper label. The Vase does have a pontil scar on the bottom. This means the Vase was blown and cut from the bottom much like their American counterparts Tiffany, Steuben, Quezal and Durand.
I have been a collector and dealer for some 35+ years. I have only seen a few of these Vases in this form through the years. Many of the famous Auction houses have attributed this to be made by Loetz. Remember to identify your glass first by shape. This is a Rindskopf shape and not Loetz! This is a wonderful Art Glass Vase to add to your Collection. I'm quite sure the Buyer will cherish this Vase for years to come. This Vase was made in the early 1900's, Circa 1905-1920. « Less

For sale is a lovely piece of Art Glass made by Wilhelm Kralik Sohn of Eleonorenhain Bohmen (Bohemia). This is now modern day "Czechoslovakia". It is a large Art Deco Shaped More »
For sale is a lovely piece of Art Glass made by Wilhelm Kralik Sohn of Eleonorenhain Bohmen (Bohemia). This is now modern day "Czechoslovakia". It is a large Art Deco Shaped Vessel with a Metal cage around the Glass Blow-Ins. It is a rather large size as it stands 10 7/8" tall and is 7" in diameter to the outside of the Blow-Ins. The opening of the vase is 4 11/16" at the outside rim.
The Vase is cased with Clear over Pink, Yellow and Deep Purple decorations over a white cased liner. The Glass was blown into the metal frame that has been welded or soldered together. This is a very difficult technique to master and very few examples of this have been seen. It has an overall feel of Art Deco style due to the color and form. It is similar to the Daum Blow-Ins with the Edgar Brandt frames but it is not quite the quality level.
This Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. The piece was blown from the top into a mold with this metal frame. It was then cut and polished at the rim. This is quite typical of the European Glass Houses to do this. The American houses usually fired polished the top edge and didn't have a cut and polished one. This Vase was most likely signed with the Acid Etched "Czechoslovakia" in block lettering mark however, due to the blow in form it most likely would not sit level so the bottom was ground to sit evenly.
This is a quality piece of European Art Glass and would enhance any Art Glass Collection. The Vase would make a lovely addition to any Art Deco or Art Nouveau Decor. This piece was made, Circa 1905-1920. I'm sure the lucky winner will be elated with their purchase. « Less
