Bottled by the American Liquor Company in Boston Mass, this vintage label is in excellent condition and beautifully framed. This oversized poster was recently purchased in Europe. Published in Paris by Atelier Faria, it was the publicity poster for an entertainer who advertised that he ''could do everything''. What ''everything'' consisted of is unclear, but given the fact that his head is a globe and he seems to be thinking hard, we think he must have been some type of clairvoyant. The poster has some signs of wear, a few repairs, but is generally in very good condition. It was folded at one time but has been professionally mounted on linen and is ready to be framed. Made for the Belgian railways, it illustrates some of the vast forest in the Belgian countryside and shows the colors and depth of the forest in a most striking way (a forestry engineer who came to the gallery felt that it was one of the most evocative and true visions of his work that he had ever seen). Known primarily as a painter, Massonet produced few posters, and as such, this piece is rather rare and exceptional, not only for its beauty, but also for its mere existence. Logaert, 1955, this lovely poster seems to be for some kind of livestock fair - we haven''t been able to reference ''jaarmarkt'' either in Flemish or in Dutch, but given the plethora of farm animals that populate this cheerful piece, we are fairly certain of our definition. The animals are drawn with care and with fondness - note the small calves peeking out from the type at the bottom of the sheet - and the restrained use of colors doesn''t seem to hinder the artist at all. Purchased in Europe, this poster is in very good shape and doesnt show any obvious signs of wear. It measures 25.5 inches by 38 inches.
