Bronze and Glass Inkwell. Green patina and mottled green glass. Bronze; clear glass and slag glass.. This bronze inkwell has a square base with small bronze pads at the corners. The sides slant inwards slightly to a square top. Both the top and bottom have beaded edges. A bronze cap flips open to reveal the original blown glass inkwell. The four sides are cutout in a floral and leaf design in the Art Nouveau style. Beneath the cutout panels are four panes of green slag glass that are held in place by bronze tabs. Columbian Exposition Spice Bin. Yellow; Gold; brown; blue; red and black. Lithographed tin. The tin has a roll top mechanism in its upper front portion. The entire surface is lithographed and painted. On the front panel, two women in Roman togas hold a drape over a portrait of Christopher Columbus. Beneath this is a detailed painting of the Manufacturers and Liberal Arts Building including Roman columns and ships in the lake in the foreground. It is marked, "Worlds Fair Manufacturers and Liberal Arts Building." Beneath this is a shield with the Stars and Stripes and the entire scene is surrounded by gold scrolling in an Art Nouveau design. The roll top is hand painted with the words, "McLaughlins Spices." The sides and back are painted yellow with an overall stars and maize pattern in black.   « Less
