In the original signed kiri paulownia box, the chaire itself is signed on the bottom by "Gyokusen-do" one of the premier copper guilds in Japan in the early Showa Period, C.1930. Meiji Period c.1890 zen buddhist temple lantern signed on the bottom by the maker, Urai Masuemon, and the place of the temple, Soraku-gun, Higashibata, in Okayama south of Kyoto. The under leafs on the top have buddhist cloud patterns as well as the main body. The metal is a copper alloy mixed with a bit of bronze.
