In the original signed kiri paulownia box, the chaire itself is signed on the bottom by "Gyokusen-do" one of the premier copper guilds in Japan in the early Showa Period, C.1930. The box characters read on top: DO CHU CHA ZU TSU (copper chaire) and inside the box and on the bottom of the actual chaire, the characters read: Gyokusen-do. Perfect condition. Meiji Period c.1890 zen buddhist temple lantern signed on the bottom by the maker, Urai Masuemon, and the place of the temple, Soraku-gun, Higashibata, in Okayama south of Kyoto. The under leafs on the top have buddhist cloud patterns as well as the main body. The metal is a copper alloy mixed with a bit of bronze.
