Beautiful 19th century bronze sculpture depicting an angel, perhaps Cupid, ascending to the heavens with Psyche to make her a Goddess. This is a beautifully detailed sculpture in excellent condition on a pristine marble base with a gilt bronze under plate. The beveled marble base conforms to the bronze base the angel is about to fly away from. The sculpture measures 13-1/4 inches high, 8 inches wide from angel's wing tip to lady's left hand. The base is 5-1/4 inches deep by 5-1/2 inches wide. Weight 20-1/2 lbs. Artist signed Jaibas on the back. This is a very well detailed sculpture in excellent condition. Antique bronze angel inscribed Moreau Vauthier. On the bottom of the base it is marked THIEBAUT FRERES FONDEURS PARIS. The more you look at this bronze the better it gets. This sculpture has absolutely superb detail it looks a live breathing angel more than it does a bronze sculpture. It has a lovely light honey colored brown patina. The angel may have had a bow or another arrow in its hand at one point. There was something else in the angel's extended hand most likely a bow. This is an exquisite quality sculpture the finest detail you could ever hope to find on any bronze. It measures 4-3/4 inches high. From the angel's left elbow to the tip of his right hand it measures 2-1/4 inches. His wingspan is more than 1 inch. The diameter of the base 1-3/4 inches. Weight 255.7 grams, approximately 7 ounces. This bronze looks beautiful on desktop, could be used as a paper weight bronze and will also look beautiful in a cabinet displayed with other bronzes. The base is original to this piece. It dates circa 1890s. The little girls face is beautifully carved. Exquisite antique bronze cherub inspired by the painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau. This bronze was cast at the Goldscheider Foundry, it bears the Goldschedier Foundry seal at the back on the bottom of the bronze. This model was sculptured after the painting by W.A. Bouguereau and is inscribed Hip Moreau D'Apres Bouguereau. Cupid measures 21-1/4 inches high. He has a wingspan of 11 inches. The base measures 6-1/2 inches wide and 7-1/2 inches deep. The cherub is an image of Cupid holding his bow in one hand and his arrow quiver full of arrows rests at the base. Weight 29 lbs. It is a 3 color bronze patina. The bow and quiver are gilt and Cupid has a light to golden chocolate brown patina. The seat he is leaning against and the rest of the sculpture has a darker patina. The bronze and patina are both in excellent condition. This is the most beautiful version of a Cupid bronze sculpture you might ever hope to find. Which makes sense since it was inspired by Bouguereau who painted the most beautiful versions of Cupid in the 19th century. Hipolite Moreau is considered one of the most important and best French sculptors of the 19th century. This example is one of his best works. Beautiful antique bronze sculpture of David standing on the head of Goliath with his sword in hand after slaying and beheading the fierce giant Goliath. The bronze is inscribed A. Mercie (Antonin Mercie 1795-1875). Antonin Mercie was the creator of Gloria Victis one of the most sought after 19th century sculptures. The last model of Gloria Victis sold at auction for $33,600.00. Gloria Victis and David Vainqueur are his two most famous and sought after compositions created by this sculptor in the 19th century. He made David in various sizes. The model we have is the 29 inch size. Diameter at base 6-1/2 inches. Widest width from sword handle to his elbow 18 inches. Weight 29 lbs. It is signed A. Beautiful antique bronze nymph blowing horns that are held in her right hand while her left hand is in the air. At the base are carved and sculptured flowers. She has a lovely golden patina. Height: 21-1/2 inches. Widest width from the tip of the horn to the top oh her hand: 11-1/2 inches. Diameter at base: 5-3/8 inches. Weight: 13-1/2 lbs. Eugene Marioton born in Paris in 1854, studied under Dumont, Bonnassieux and Thomas and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1882 to 1922, winning bronze medals at the Exposition of 1889 and 1900, and a traveling scholarship in 1888. He specialized in portrait medallions, bas-reliefs and busts. This sculptor has auction records of more than $20,000. for some of his bronzes. Antique gilt patinated bronze sculpture depicting a lady with an Art Deco style hat wearing a fur holding a basket in one hand and a cup to collect money for charity in the other hand. The sculpture is signed Dunach. Please see close ups for the artist's signature and title of sculpture. The front of the sculpture is inscribed 7 Fevrier 1915. The bronze has very nice detail and was skillfully sculptured at the beginning of the Art Deco movement in 1915. The sculpture shows nice detail and excellent composition. It measures 8-1/4 inches high including its 3/4 inch marble base. The base is 3 inches wide and 3 inches deep. The bronze alone not including the base measures 7-3/4 inches tall. This is an interesting sculpture we have not seen one by this artist before nor have we seen one of a similar subject. It has a religious connotation she is wearing a badge with a cross on it.The cup she is holding for donation also has a cross on it. This is a beautiful example of Carrier Belleuse's sculptures who was considered one of the most important and finest sculptors of the 19th century. The plaque at the front reads Harmonie Par Carrier-Belleuse, Medaille d'Honneur au Salon. This sculpture is one of the most famous and sought after works by Carrier Belleuse. It depicts a beautiful semi nude lady with a lyre. She is seated on a column while holding her harp. She measures 24-3/4 inches high and 16 inches widest width.
