Made of finely cast pewter with its original gilded finish, the chandelier features an unusual 8” fitter. The fitter is beautifully ornamented with foliate detail and a volute pattern, and the fluted shade features an elegant egg-and-dart pattern. The pendant begins with a simple loop finial with four curled, hammered brass bands supporting the lantern. The bands run down the edges of the lantern and curl back up at the base. This is a magnificent antique Gothic Revival lantern, dating from the early 1900’s. Made of iron and bronze, the chandelier begins with a hammered canopy and comes down in a substantial chain to a bold quatrefoil finial. The lantern features a dome-shaped, hammered top, followed by a band ornamented with quatrefoil cutouts and red buttons. Four hammered bands run the length of the lantern, curving in at the bottom to a foliate appliqué and a loop finial. The lantern has been fitted with white glass. This light fixture is in excellent condition, and the glass is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks.
