circa: 1800 width: 61 height: 27 length: 22 This stunning antique oak trunk was hand-crafted in England around 1800, during the Georgian period. Over the past two centuries, the solid oak has developed a lovely patina that enriches the natural beauty of the wax-finished wood. The carvings are simple yet elegant, while the bun feet and hinges remain sturdy. The single lock in the front no longer functions, and there is a variety of surface wear on all surfaces of the trunk, including broken moulding, scuffs, etc., but overall condition remains very good and this beautiful, charming piece straight out of history would make a fantastic addition to any furniture collection. « Less

circa: 1720 width: 58 height: 42 length: 22 Handmade in Early Georgian Period England around 1720, this charming oak coffer bach testifies to the enduring quality of English furniture craftsmanship. Both structurally and cosmetically, every aspect of this coffer bach is of the highest quality. Consider, for instance, the remarkably rich complexion of the side oak as well as its striking grain, both of which have grown more beautiful over the years with the development of a lovely patina. The brass hardware, which was replaced some time in the late 19th or early 20th century, contrasts wonderfully with the oak. Meanwhile, the shaped bracket feet are as elegant as they are sturdy and, in fact, this coffer bach does remain incredibly sturdy. The top and drawers, for instance, still operate smoothly to this day, although one of the drawers was rebuilt in the 19th century and one other has had its bottom replaced. This chest has also sustained signficant superficial wear that is entirely consistent with the grand age of nearly 300 years (please see pictures). The top, front and sides have developed separations between the boards that are often referred to as age splits, which are entirely cosmetic phenomena that do not affect structural integrity, and which always develop in solid wood furniture. Overall, therefore, condition remains excellent for an 18th-century piece.Referred to as a coffer bach by the Welsh, this piece is also referred to as a mule chest. The latter term, however, technically refers to a chest whose width is the same all the way down. This chest, on the other hand, widens just above the drawers, thus distinguishing it as a coffer bach. Certainly, this coffer bach boasts a history as rich as its appearance, and with a structure that has stood the test of time, it could surely endure another 300 years. Indeed, whether used as a blanket chest or as a novel substitute for a chest of drawers, this coffer bach would make a fine addition to any home furniture collection! « Less

circa: 1790 width: 56 height: 27 length: 25 This lovely 18th-century antique oak trunk was hand-crafted in England around 1790. The oak has developed a lovely patina and grain over the past 200+ years. The front has four panels with low-relief carvings on each one. The shaped skirt adds even more beauty reminiscent of days gone by. A charming heart-shaped heavily patinated solid-brass escutcheon adorns the front of this piece. The top also has two solid brass hinges on either side. The interior is quite spacious at 21 inches deep, 53 inches wide and 22 inches high. This antique English trunk can be used at the foot of a bed for storage of winter clothing and blankets or important keepsakes. There are a few age splits on the top which have been repaired and some minor superficial imperfections which are appropriate in a piece over 200 years old. Part of one hinge is missing. Note the top has two hinges on each side so it remains firmly attached. Otherwise this trunk is in very good condition. As functional as it is beautiful, this 18th-century antique English oak trunk should make an excellent addition to any home furniture collection! « Less

circa: 1960 width: 37 height: 20 length: 18 This gorgeous vintage solid teak oriental blanket box was crafted around 1960. Over the years, the patina of the teak has deepened to a lovely color that enriches its striking grain. This blanket box boasts brass hardware including all of the interior finishing nails. An eagle atop claw-and-ball feet provide interesting and sturdy support. A beautiful carved oriental symbol adorns the top. The top has dovetailed joints which indicate its fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. This blanket box is a full 10 inches deep, which leaves plenty of room for numerous personal belongings or keepsakes. Additionally there is a 11 inches x 14 inches removable shelf that is 2 inches deep. There is an age split on the inner shelf but it does not affect the structural integrity of the shelf. (See pictures). On the top there is a 1.5-inch scratch but otherwise the blanket box and its finish are in excellent condition. « Less
