Wonderful pocket watch by Elgin. c.1909. Approximately 1 1/2" in diameter. Probably needs cleaning but other than that, it looks to be in good condition. Marks include 15604553, Elgin, U.S.A., Philadelphia Watch Case Co., Guaranteed 20 years, The mark is a crown inside of a double circle and the number 9267073 is stamped on the inside of the case. The initials BMW are scratched inside of the case. I am not an expert. This was in a family collection. See photos. I am starting this at a low price.   « Less

Gorgeous 14 karat gold pendant by goldsmith, Alston Neal. This beautiful pendant is Tsavorite and Fire Agate mounted on 14 k gold. There are real gold nuggets around the border. Wonderful pair of English sterling coffee spoons by well known silversmiths William & Peter Bateman. c.1806-1808. Approximatelt 4 7/8" long. Each has the turned back end with the knot on the back. Wonderful English Cameo vase by Thomas Webb & Sons of Stourbridge, England. Approximately 7 1/2" high and 6 1/4" in diameter at the widest point. Unsigned but guaranteed to be Webb. Decorated with Tulip blossoms, leaves, stems and buds. There are also 4 butterflies on this one vase. This beautiful citron vase is in high relief and is very heavy. The carving is very well executed and the tulip decoration goes all around the vase. The elaborate top border and bottom border finish this piece beautifully.   « Less

Beautiful sterling silver butter dish with insert by Grosjean & Woodward for Tiffany & Company, New York. Approximately 6" in diameter, 4 3/4" tall and 14 troy ounces. No monogram. Beautifully decorated on the cover with beading around the edge of both the top and bottom pieces. See photos. Marks include TIFFANY & CO, 7239, G&W, G&W, ENGLISH STERLING, 925-1000, 18 and 550 Broadway. This mark was used from 1854-1865 and is pictured in Carpenter's book on Tiffany Silver, pg 248. According to Carpenter, "Early Tiffany silver was marked in such a way as to make very sure the buyer knew he was receiving real sterling. From 1854-1870, centered in the Tiffany mark was: ENGLISH STERLING, 925-1000. There was good reason for Tiffany using the term ENGLISH STERLING, since sterling was well above the average quality of silver used by most American silversmiths of the time." Wonderful watercolor painting by American artist, Frederick Mortimer Lamb, 1861-1936. Approximately 15 3/8" x 19 3/8" WITH the frame and matting. WITHOUT the frame it measures 10" x 14". Signed lower right F.M. Lamb '95. This painting shows men working the field. It is in good condition with some foxing. Lamb was born in Middleboro MA and died in Stoughton MA. He studied in Paris before 1900 at the Julien Academy. Then the Boston Museum School. Member: American Water Color Society; Boston Art Club; Society of Independent Artists. He was well know for his landscape s, dogs, hunt scenes, genre and portraits. Nicely framed and ready for hanging.   « Less

Beautiful original watercolor painting of Holland scene with windmills and boats by American artist, George Linton Herdle. Signed lower right G L. Herdle. Approximately 7" x 13" WITHOUT the frame. WITH the frame and matting it measures 13 1/4" x 19 1/4". George Linton Herdle, American, born 1868 and died in 1922. He was a museum director, craftsperson & painter from Rochester, NY. He studied in Paris and Holland and was a member of the Rochester Art Club, Rochester Municipal Art Committee, Association Art Museum Director. He exhibited at the Boston Art Club in 1873; PAFA, 1906; AIC, 1907, 1911; Corcoran Gallery, 1908 & 1910. Beautifully framed and ready for hanging. Very good condition.   « Less

Beautiful floral still life painting by John C. Hare, American 1908-1978. Approximately 21" x 27" WITHOUT the frame. WITH the frame it measures 25" x 31". Signed lower right, John C. Hare. This beautiful watercolor is a still life of wild roses in a vase with a draped background. John Cuthbert Hare was known for his paintings of boats, seascapes and harbor scenes. He was primarily associated with New England, especially Cape Cod, Massachusetts where he spent his summers from 1938 to 1965. In 1967 he moved to Yarmouthport Ma and also painted in Gloucester. There is a tag on the back from The Home Beautiful Shop in Allston MA. Very good condition.   « Less

Watercolor Painting by George Linton Herdle 1868-1922 To the best of my knowledge the name of the painting is "Late Afternoon Near Leyden," it is written in pencil on the bottom of the old press-printed history card 5"x8 1/2" that was taped to the back of the frame. (see picture) It tells about all the schools he attended, his first teacher was the famous painter Charles P. Gruppe and much more information. The size of the painting itself is 15 1/2" x 23 1/2" with the original frame it measures 22 1/2" x 30 3/4" overall, frame is 1 1/2" thick. The condition of the painting and frame is very good. It is signed in lower left front of painting. The Champlin Encyclopedia copyright 1948 states: "Leyden, Netherlands, a city in the province of South Holland, on the Rhine River, 6 miles from the sea. It is in a low, flat country, and is cut up by many canals, crossed by more than a hundred bridges. Around it are beautiful meadows and pleasant gardens, with many windmills." (This definition describes this George Linton Herdle painting perfectly!!)   « Less
