Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing. Rare faience tile from King Djoser's Step pyramid. Intact with small chip. Hieroglyph on back for place marker. This type of faience tile-decoration was invented by Imhotep, the genius architect of king Djoser (Netjri-khet) to cover some of the walls of the substructures of the Step Pyramid and the so-called " South Tomb ". The panel was reconstructed from original elements found below the Pyramid. This panel was meant to imitate curtains made of reed matting in older constructions, but used now to decorate the galleries and royal apartments surrounding Djoser's funerary chamber. It's colors are quite vibrant and well contrasted with the white stone. 6 cm.

Antique, late Georgian bangle. Gold on silver, set with fabulous colourful gemstones. Made 19th century, circa 1830. This is a large sized bangle - measures 2 5/8inches accross. Central amethyst is approx 1/2 inch (13mm) long. Exquisite bangle made of 9ct gold with silver top, set around the upper half with moonstones, emeralds, diamonds and a central Siberian amethyst. Rows of cabochon moonstones, doubling towards the center. Lead, on either side, to a pair of beautiful emeralds. Directly alongside the emeralds on the other side are a pair of diamonds (a pair on each side of the bracelet - 4 in all). A ring is formed partially by the diamonds, completed by more moonstones. Within the ring is a large oval amethyst of a wonderful, deep violet colour. The contrast in colour between the bright green of the emeralds, the bright purple of the amethyst and the soft cabochon, milky blue/opaline moonstones is stunning to say the least. Gleams wonderfully. Few jewels have the presence of this bangle. The large size might have been made for a large lady, but it could also have been made to fit further up the arm, as was fashionable during the early 19th century. Condition is very good. « Less

Antique earrings made of 14carat gold and banded agate. Made during the Georgian era, circa 1820. Measure a tad under 3 inches long, not including the earwires. Weigh 20grams. Exceptionally lovely, elegant pair of earrings. The finest cannetille wire-work in bright 14carat gold, finely wound cones, scrolls and loops form the mount. Unusual to find faceted hardstone of this period, this is fabulous banded agate in rich brown marbled with shades of white. The earrings fan out from top to bottom, with the narrow, top end with collet-set round gems. The collets with scallops and serrated tops. A long agate drop is suspended in the middle of the cannettile work as are 3 round agate beads at the bottom. All of these, attached via loops and decorative tops and bottoms in gold, with a generous swing as the wearer moves. The loops that go through the ears are probably replacements, but are extremely comfortable and easy to insert. Earrings are in exceptional condition considering their age and their delicate nature. « Less

Antique, early Victorian earrings. 14carat gold and aquamarine. Made circa 1835-1840. Earrings are approximately 1 1/2 inches long. Very light and comfortable to wear, they weigh 2.5 grams together. Repousse gold surmount in the form of an inverted V, with scrolling sides. A loop joins the next section of the earrings - an aquamarine elongated pear drop, collet-set with repousse gold matching the surmount, at the bottom. The minimal use of outside decoration puts the focus on the beautiful, light blue stones. Great movement adds to their appeal. Their size and weight make them ideal for wearing both by day and night. Very good condition. « Less

Exceptional pair of antique Victorian buckle cuff bracelets / bangles with black enamel. Made circa 1870, probably American. Each bangle is 2 1/2 inches accross. They will fit a wrist of about 7 inches. Weight:71.8grams. Sturdy gold-filled bangles with garter or buckle motif. Faux fixing on the front, as though the buckle has not quite been pulled through the loops. Black tracery (also called taille d'epargne), decorates the entire surface with geometric and botanical themes. Interesting variations of texture in parallel panels. Mourning jewellery, incorporating black enamel was the norm during Queen Victoria's era, as she mourned Prince Albert. After the first few decades, the element of mourning subsided to a token gesture, as these bracelets indicate - black, but lighthearted, fine and delicate. Each one is absolutely fabulous and the pair, quite exceptional. Secure clasps - easy to open/close. A safety catch to ensure additional security. Another stunning feature of this pair of bangles is that they are in such fabulous condition. After nearly 150 years, the enamelling is as pristine as it coule be. Generally, very good condition. One tiny flaw that can be fixed in a jiffy: the safety catch of one bangle needs two links to be rejoined. « Less

Antique, Egyptian Revival pendant / mechanical pencil. Probably made 1920's and has a strong Art Deco feel. Closed, the pendant measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long. With the pencil extended, slightly over 4 3/4 inches long. Measurement does not include the ring for suspending the pendant/pencil. Pendant / pencil in the form of a Pharaoh Mummy, probably based on the Tutankhamun boy king, excavated circa 1922. Made of gilt-metal with beautiful enamel enclosed in gold outlines. Very strong Art Deco feel to the stylised figure and patterned design. Both sides are identical (back and front). The base extends a few inches and contains a pencil, in good working order. The loop, suspending the pendant/pencil is marked with an engraved name that looks like AIRTEA, although the first and last letters are not clearly legible. Generally very good condition. A tiny area, visible in the highly magnetised 'photos, has restored enamel, but this is mentioned only in order to be entirely accurate - it in no way impinges on the beauty and elegance of the piece. « Less
